So I finally got a cheap Acer Tablet for running Torque. It runs Torque just swell! For only $50!
Bonus: it also has a GPS chip. I could use it in place of my dedicated GPS. Bummer: it has no cellular/3G/4G connectivity.
Since I'm mostly a iOS guy, I don't know if there's a GPS app for Android that puts all the maps onto my tablet, so it will basically function as a standalone device.
I'm sure that would take lots of GB, but that's not an issue since the only other app on there is Torque.
Thanks

I think it was $8 or so; not perfect but you can DL maps for offline use. I use it mainly for offroading, and prefer the older maps that it seems to have - it shows more mines, points of interest, etc than a lot of newer maps.
download... no data needed

you can also within google maps download the area to your phone but you can't have it navigate without data https://support.google.com/gmm/answer/3273567?hl=en
I've used Navfree before. It's not perfect, but it is free and can be used completely without data. It's not as good as google maps but it's at least as good as the GPS on the Cadillac. You just have to remember to download the maps for the states you need before you leave.

Well, I tried both Sygic and NavFree, and wasn't impressed with either. Guess I'll stick with the standalone unit.
Now I have 3 screens stuck to my dash. It's beginning to look like a Radio Shack in there!
