That may be the story, but what I've heard was they were looking for a name for their new monster, the writer was idly looking up at his book shelf and there was a set of encyclopedias in front of him and one volume covered DAL - EK, so he coined Dalek. I don't know if it's true or not, but I've seen/heard it several times.

One of those in-flight safety videos had a Tribble in it (then a lot of Tribbles). I was embarrassed to find that I was the only one on the plane laughing...
That's the trouble with tribbles.
there were all sorts of little easter eggs in those Star Wars clips..
in other news, the Millenium Falcon is in a big space battle scene with the Borg in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation .. or maybe it was in one of the movies... might have been Deep Space 9?.. whatever, it's late and i just worked 10 hours.. either way, it's there. somewhere.
I saw a Tardis and a couple Daleks at the local con this past weekend (my first con!) Had to go on youtube and get a cliffs notes on Dr Who.
