Just went on to login to Bank of America to see if my check I last deposited had been accepted and wouldn't you know it, can't login. So I call the 1-800 number, sit on hold for 15 minutes to find out they have closed my account with ALL my money in it. They said "oh you will get a cashiers check in 10-15 business days". o.k. now I don't have money to put in my tank, buy any food, go to the MITTY (no, im gonna find a way to go) everyday needs... Ask them why, they don't tell you...
Bank of America go into recievership?
Bank of America go into punch em in the facership
Sounds like a similar issue I've had with them in the past. They are the devil. Though it might be worth at least stopping into a major branch and talking to a manager. They might give you some ideas as to why they pulled this on you.

ya looks like ill be paying them a visit in the near future...
Holy carp that sucks I would be going into a branch and pounding some heads. They just shut down your account with no notice? And basically they can do anything they want with the money until they finally send you a check 2 weeks?

For sure! I go to the local Firefighter's Credit Union (my dad is a retired firefighter) and they all know me by name.

I'm not too fond of them either. Today, I'm running around getting ready for my flight to Trinidad. Go to a Hess station for gas, my card is declined!! Pay cash for the gas, dash home to my computer to check on the account- plenty of money, but they dinged my card twice for 1.00 for the failed transaction. WTF.
Why didn't you rush the local BoA and withdraw all the money? Wendy's?!?
BoA is second in evil only to Chase. I wish both would DIAF.
Chase once charged me $10 for "non-payment" of a bill. The bill was $0.00. WTF am I supposed to do, send them a check for $0.00??? It's ZERO for berkeley sakes! They've also tried to charge me interest on a balance of zero. I had to give the shiny happy Elbonian on the phone a math lesson...
"It doesn't matter what the APR is doorknob. One billion percent of zero is still ZERO!!!"
Again, local Credit Unions. Small, local mortgage company. Credit/debit card through the CU. Keep it local, keep it yours. Berkeley the big banks.

Wow, that's seriously berkeleyed up. I'd be at the local branch demanding my money NOW, if they tried to pull that E36 M3. I'm sure that would earn a trip to the jailhouse, but damn, that requires a good explanation.
Hmmm. One of my co workers deposited his federal tax refund check last week, it showed up on his balance 2 days later so he writes some checks. He is with BoA too. Then they put a 'hold' on the check funds (meaning they pulled the money BACK out of his account) AFTER THEY HAD CREDITED IT TO HIS ACCOUNT! Now he has some bounced checks. He is on the phone with them as I type this.

Maybe they needed to verify the check wouldn't be returned for insufficient funds?
Seeing how much AIG etc siphoned off that's probably a good idea.

well this was after i was on the phone with the BOA dude saying it was shutdown. I happen to have a lil cash on me and thought "oh ill give my card one more shot for ****s and giggles," and BAM it worked, so i ran to the gas station thinkin it would continue to work, but no such luck. oh well, ya im going to a credit union now and for the rest of my adult life!
Banks have you by the gonads and they know it.
I've been with a Federal Credit Union for 35 years and have never had a problem. Before that I had a problem with every bank I dealt with.
ya for something like 7 or 10 years to clear a name from what I heard. Like to kick them in the gonads!

This happened to me two years ago when i was with Teachers Credit Union. They caused me over $500 in fees.
I went in there and screamed so hard i was spitting on their manager.
I got my money back. At which point, i calmed down. Smiled politely, told them to go eff themselves and closed the account.
I used a Dean Whitter account for a couple of decades, through several ownerships (Sears, Morgan Stanley, etc.) until they got a new CEO a couple years ago who decided that the way to "make" money was to berkeley the clients. HOW'D THAT WORK OUT FOR YOU, SHINEY HAPPY PERSONS? Anyway, I called them up, told the account rep that a hot stock tip was to short their stock, closed that down and got accounts with local/regional banks.
This sounds like BAC is having some quiet problems going on here. Time to short BAC?
BoA dicked me over by holding a state government payroll check from my account. At that time I deposited paper checks. My checks bounced for bills I wrote checks for after depositing the check and letting it clear. I stormed into the bank office. They told me it was "standard procedure" to hold checks to ensure "funds are available." I told them the state government doesn't write checks that bounce. I ironed out the deal and then closed my account.
I walked down the road and joined the Virginia Credit Union. No problems since. I don't think it's coincidence that the credit union is a non-profit entity and my experience has been positive.
"For profit" banks are for suckers. I'm sure BoA engineered that little fire drill in an effort to screw me out of money for bounced checks. Think about how few people they have to do that too to give themselves a few million more in profits per year.
For suckers.
Been there, done that. My brother worked for BoA for years and we had the business banking there. They couldn't give a flip if we lived or died, and were pretty much more enemy than ally.
We're with SunTrust now--another large bank, yeah, but they actually have a Motorsports division, so we get to enjoy big-bank opportunities with small-bank service, including personal attention from our friendly banker April. No joke: We have a human! We call her cell whenever we have questions or problems, she brings by papers whenever we need to sign/do something, and they give us deals (free checking for all our people, low fees).
This division happens to be based in Daytona (vroom vroom), but they're looking for clients (think racers, shop owners, other professionals in the field), and we're living proof you don't have to be Daddy Warbucks to deal with them. Not to shill for The Man, but if you're in motorsports on a more than casual basis, I'd check them out--they've been good to us: SunTrust Motorsports Division

see and this is where i've been with BoA since forever and have nary a problem. When and if I have any kind of overdraft fees they always waive them, even if it's my fault. I generally treat the people at the bank on the phone with kid gloves though, you know what they say about honey.
