My work PC runs Win 7 Professional. Walked in Monday AM, fired it up and got dat ol' debbil 'configuring Windows Update' message. Let it finish doing its thing, now I have a problem where one program won't print a pdf from the remote web site.
Did a compatibility check, the site requires IE8 or 9 and thank you Microsoft I now have IE10. Grrr. Okey doke, I'll just uninstall the update and it'll automatically roll back to IE9. Nope, get a message 'not all components were uninstalled' and still have IE10. Tried in Safe mode, still no joy.
Okey doke, System Restore to the rescue. Uh, no. Click on the System Restore button, it blinks for a split second and won't open the Restore box. Last time I saw that (on another computer) it was a virus. But, the Updates show IE10 being downloaded along with the correct Microsoft numbers etc and a virus sweep shows nothin'.
Ideas?

I like to restart the print spooler (under Services -> Local) when pdfs don't like to print.
Did you update your Adobe Reader too?
In reply to mtn:
I have Chrome, it's not 100% compatible with the site and neither of the others are.
In reply to Giant Purple Snorklewacker:
It's not compatible with the site.
In reply to RossD:
I don't have admin privileges on this computer.

Throw down the chains of your oppressor!
Go yell at whoever the hell is running a website in the stone age?
Is there a little box up on the top that says something about "compatability view" or something like that?
I have a buddy in the web hosting business that is heavily cursing Win8 and IE10, because they have quit supporting a whole lot of older systems. He doesn't have the choice of going to firefox or whatever, because hes gotta make it work for everybody.
Chrome with a internet explorer compatibility add on?

In IE, press F12 - should bring up a little developers window. Change Browser Mode and Document Mode to whatever you need. May work. That's what we do at work when we need to test software in other IE versions. Not sure it changes the version broadcast, maybe just the way pages render.

Thank you, running W8 and IE10 that took care of a problem I was having with one site I use frequently.

I'm going to try that in the AM when I get to work. Thanks!
