Showings in theaters through this weekend of Oldboy. 20th anniversary.
Action movies have been paying homage ever since. The Daredevil season 1 hallway scene, John Wick...
Love that movie.
Side note, do NOT watch the American remake of it from 2013 with Josh Brolin. It was terrible.

The Raid should be on this list.
So... watched it yesterday.
Incredible movie that I would NOT recommend to a general audience. It was bizarre and highly disturbing.
If you are a film nerd who enjoys weighty Cinema, it is a masterpiece. But it is more surrealist psychological thriller than anything else. There *is* a revenge story there and the action is badass, but it is more David Lynch than it is John Wick.
I remember watching this movie for a class in college. An extremely well done movie...but man is it messed up.
It's an incredible film, full of incredible plot twists. I second szeis4cookie's thoughts: You won't feel good at the end. You'll be debating on what was more messed up. Enjoy!
Hahaha! No kidding.
As soon as the credits rolled my wife turned to me and said, "That was berkeleyed up. Did you know how berkeleyed up it was going to be?"
I remember watching it probably 10 years ago. It was so crazy and I recall thinking "why was this such a big thing?!" but it has stuck with me since then. There aren't a ton of movies that I can say that about. What a trip.

Answer: That the villain's incredibly bizarre and convoluted plot actually worked when there were so many chances for it to go off script.
It had some incredible cinematography and was quite disturbing, but the end just broke the suspension of disbelief.
