To make myself feel better about enjoying the karma involved here, and because visually things just didn't make sense...
Here is a non-gif of a "transmilenio", which is some form of bus/train mutant. Thief was planning to jump off platform I suppose. It looks like he got hit by the bus mirror and then fell into the gap between the bus and the platform (mind the gap!). The Google translate of the screen cap allows the translation "cellular thief ended up under a transmilenio", though it's original inclination was simply "ended".
I'm going with the guy survived, though whether he learned a lesson or not is open for discussion.
