I remember ordering my Auto World Catalog by mail and waiting for it to come in. Then ordering stuff filling out their order form and mailing it it, then waiting for the stuff to come by mail.

What a different world it is today.

I spent hours studying that catalog.

A good day back in the late 60s is finding the latest Auto World Catalog and the latest Car and Driver in your mailbox.

I first learned about Oscar through Auto World when I built plastic AMT model cars back in the late fifties/early sixties. I subbed to his newsletter. I traded model car parts with other subs. Then I met him at the NY Auto Show around 1968 where he had a small space in an obscure section of the show. But he had steady traffic at his small booth. Great guy. Fun guy.  Then I followed his racing exploits along with Tony Adamowicz with the very loosely run PRDA. Actually, I don't think it was organized at all.

Here's a sticker on one of my tool boxes. I'm an honorary member because I'm half-Polish, so I've been told.wink

Man, that's a tough one. Race in Peace, Oscar.

Definitely a unique and nice guy. I met him a number of times and he was always pleasant  and interesting to speak with. I was at his Autoworld flea market when he was ramming around in a Kubelwagen.
