That picture, by the way, was taken with my 3-4 year old point-and-shoot cheap digital camera, braced on the lawn chair, on my beck deck. No tripod, no DSLR, no lenses, no filters, and lots of light pollution.
You have to start somewhere, and anyone can replicate these results! It was a lot of fun just to observe it. We could see Jupiter during the day, too, which was awesome!
