So now that Google has killed off (nearly at least) Picasa, and GooglePhotos doesn't support image hosting I am left searching for a good way to host photos for forum posts etc. Would like something easy and seamless to use from both my Android phone and desktop.
Imgur is the easiest i've found for Android. Easy to upload, easy to copy the link. The desktop client is decent too.
Photobucket has obnoxious ads, and I haven't tried many of the others.
I still use Photobucket for that.

Test Failed. I see no images.
I use photobucket for that purpose..
I use dropbox. The photo has to be in the public folder, though, and lately the photos I take in portrait view show up here rotated on their side. It hasn't always done it, but I can't figure out how to fix it. I can't link to them from my phone, but no hotlinking works from my phone, so I don't think that's a Dropbox thing.
For example:
The rotation issue:
And a landscape shot:
That's really annoying because I take most of those phone shots upright, of course.
I've always used photobucket, but I agree their formatting and such really does suck.
Curious to others opinions on better options as well.
After seeing that big photo site implode a few years ago (Photobucket?), I host my own.
I pay smugmug.com for unlimited storage and hosting. I get to put full res and choose the output. No ads. Slick app for android & iPhone. I control public vs private, etc... no secret marketing agenda or face recognition scans... approx $30/yr.
It's worth it to me. YMMV.
I third Imgur. Unlimited storage for free, with a dead simple interface and little privacy invasion compared to Photobucket or Flickr. It's what I use.

I use Flickr or Imgur, both are decent. Flickr has the html code built in, so no need to use the little photo icon here to add them.
Would it be a problem if I just used my personal cooking website to host the pictures I share here?
It's got plenty of storage space and bandwidth
I use Tumblr, quick and easy, social network integrated, unlimited space and is text searchable.
It is all public though, just a reminder.

In reply to revrico:
Not a problem at all. You'll just need the http//.../picture.jpg URL and paste it into the box that pops up when you click on the camera icon by all of the emoji/emoticons/smileys.

No problem at all. I used to host all my pictures on my website that Comcast provided as part of my service. Since they did away with the personal websites I have been using Imgur and find it very easy to use. I particularly like the fact that I can pick the image size when I upload and do not have to resize the pictures myself before uploading.

I was just wondering, because it could definitely help my site ranking, and I'm already paying for the storage space.
In the mean time though, I've been using postimg.org It's free, no account necessary, and pretty simple interface.
