On the air right now. This is awesome!
We were in a wine bar in Manitou Springs CO when I looked up and asked "is that John McEnroe playing berkeleying pickleball?" Actually, I think that's pretty cool and just a little bit funny. He'd completely wipe ths court with me.
It was fun to watch McEnroe growing increasingly more competitive as the match went on.
They were goofing around at first, but then it became very clear that he absolutely wanted to win this thing.

It just means that you're old.

Well we finished up in time to hit the earlybird at Piccadilly Cafeteria, smart guy. so there.
Pickleball is taking the nation by storm but I've heard some good arguments about the unintended consequences - mostly, the noise. I read about a neighborhood down in Phoenix where the HOA converted some tennis courts into pickleball courts and everybody was so excited, until the neighbors found out that the noise was significantly more intrusive.
I've gotta admit the noise is probably my least favorite part of it while not playing, but ironically, it makes it more fun to play.

Yeah this is a huge issue, especially for community parks in residential areas. It's pretty easy to take one tennis court that nobody uses and turn it into four pickleball courts that EVERYONE wants to use. And pickleball is roughly 10-15db louder than tennis, based on numbers from angry HOAs (although those numbers are entirely realistic).
And the other great irony is that there's technology out there to considerably quiet things, like paddles filed with EVA foam. But those EVA paddles are ridiculously hot, so they aren't currently approved for any sanctioned play.
