Seen on another forum today....thought this was worth passing along (my Dad used to work at the Toronto Roundhouse for CN....he has some great stories).

This is Canadian National locomotive number 2699. It is a 212 ton, 6 axle machine powered by a 4400 hp V16 4 stroke Diesel. The engine & train were passing the town of Independence, Louisiana when she threw a piston.

WOW and to think I do not live all that far from the N.E four track system with trains zipping up and down all day and night .

I've never seen so much win and fail occur simultaneously.

Oh, great. Now those sneaky Canadians are attacking the Great Satan with locomotive pistons.

My brother works for the railroad. I used to have a piston and connecting rod out of a train. Wanted to make a clock out of it. Damn thing weighed like 80 lbs. LOL I think I gave it away to someone who would actually follow through the whole, "make a clock outta this" thing.
