I have to say that I used to work at a Chick-fil-a and can stand to eat there on occasion. (it was in a mall though)

"Black people like fried chicken? Really? Man who the berkeley DOESN'T like mother berkeleying fried chicken?"
I was watching that "News" live, and was babbling "Show us a pasty-faced customer!" over and over....Thank god no one they spoke to was calling 911 on camera, I live where this took place, but don't hold that against me please.....
I've seen a KFC go out of business in the ghetto, but the Crown Fried Chicken across the street always has a "crowd"
Wife worked at churches back in the day dale mabry and hillsborough ,, when the old sumbrero was there <, bucs stadium when they had the super bowl . Bucs where 0- 17 back then .
Churches they had a slicer on the side of the freezer , crazy dangerous . Thats the weird cut back then on the chicken . Use to love the whole jalopenos they gave you .
They had similar problems at the Popeye's in Minneapolis. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eiG5FCYJ8k I liked the guy who took a $35 cab ride to try to get the $4.99 special. This store is just down the street from my house; I ate there once, and maybe it was just a bad day for them but my meal was pretty terrible.
Man. Y'all dont know fried chicken. The world's best fried chicken (sorry Mom) is at a little walk up restaurant in West Columbia, SC called Zesto's. Yum.
Get yourself down to Maxwell St. in Chicago to the Soul Food Cafe. Best damn chicken in the state, Honky!
Bobzilla wrote: We have a Popeyes in Whitestown/Zionsville. Far from "hood" and their chicken is tasty. I prefer it over KFC.
You're a north-sider? I drive through there several times a week heading down to our office on 86th St.
There's a Popeye's on Keystone down near I-70 in Indy. I've thought about trying it sometime, but maybe I'll choose the one up north....
Semi on-topic, I just saw the "Whitestown/Brownsburg" exit sign posted on Fail blog a couple weeks ago. I was always surprised that one didn't get taken down.
Im surprised that all of the people are saying bad things about Popeye's Chicken. I mean, have you seen the size of his forearms? And how opening a can of spinach leads to him opening a can of whup-ass? I would watch my tounge!
Oh, and Frisch's Broasted Chicken is the best.
Imagine if a Starbucks ran out of coffee. The white people would update their Facebook and Twitter statuses SO HARD!

I'm pretty sure I live about 5 blocks from the Popeye's you speak of. I'm not above stumbling in there drunk. But I do get funny looks. Nothing I'm not used to.
However, since my girlfriend now legally represents the guy who runs the outdoor late night grilled sausage stand outside the hoppin' clubs, my drunkfood future is pretty well set in stone.
And Appleseed, if you're in Chicago and you're not eating at Harold's chicken shack, you're in the wrong place.
Heh. Popeye's reminds me: my good friend who's a contractor and general laborer went to the doctor complaining of periodic tingling and numbness in his hands. The doctor's diagnosis: overdeveloped forearms.
My name for his affliction: Popitis.
Had Churches for lunch today. Good stuff. Popeye's, not so much. The one by the office always overcooks their chicken.
Popeye's is my favorite of the chicken chains, had some for dinner today. At least in NY they are generally clean, and not in the really bad neighborhoods. The real rough areas have a Crown, a Kennady, and another Crown all at the same intersection, and they slide your chicken through a door in the bulletproof glass like a bank.
We just got a popeye's in our city a few weeks ago. (Kitchener, Ontario, Canada). I went there the other day for the first time and it was pretty good. I like the spicy chicken! I will go back.
Try the biscuits..
I'm sure they put crack in those things.
Unfortunately the Popeyes in my are closed down. White people don't love fried chicken enough to support four fried chicken chains.

I've had popeye's a few times. It was alright. The Church's here in town is definitely in the ghetto, and definitely disgusting.
but they're not all that common around here outside of the big Metro areas though.
+1,000,000 on Lee's. Thats some good stuff.
There is a corner in the hood in KC (IIRC it's somewhere over on Jackson, or in that area) where the four businesses are a KFC, a Church's, a Popeye's, and a payday loan place.
I love me some Popeyes, too. One of the three here in the Milwaukee area had a white guy working the counter one night when I was picking up some chicken. Shocked the hell outta me. Best time to go is the end of the month. They have the best deals then. Dunno, must have something to do with welfare money runnin' low.
