There's an old yet, as far as I can tell, rust free Bronco for sale local to me. It has 94,000 miles and looks pretty clean even though there are some inconsistencies. It has a carburetor so it should have either a base 351W or a H.O. 351W yet the ad states it has a 302.

This bothers me a bit even though it's easy to mistake one for the other. If it has a 351 it has either around 150hp or 210hp depending on whether or not it's an H.O. that will be backed by a C6. But, if it has a 302 chances are it may have an AOD (DOA) and it should be fuel injected most likely having been hacked into carburetion.

Enough rambling, any thoughts? I'm considering doing a partial trade for the Stincoln so, even though the Bronco has only lap belts in the rear I will only be out a few MPGs but I will be gaining 4wd.

'86 is going to be fuel injected and most likely a 302 and most definitely an AOD.

It may work for ADD but no power in the 'verse can combat AADD.

Mpg is horrible but I'm sure you know that right?

The 5.8L 351 should still be carborated until the end of the 1987 model year.

In reply to the Jed:

A friend of mine is getting ready to sell off a rusty body late '80's that's got the 5.8 efi/c6 combo. Idk what he wants for it though, but the drivetrain is begging for a clean body to be stuffed into.

id love to talk you out of it, and being the (not so) proud owner of a 93 EB 5.0 auto, i have a LOT of ways in which i could do it. i hate my truck at LEAST 2 days a week. the other 5 are a mix of 'meh' and 'holylordilovethisdamnthingtodeath'. those times are usually a few moments after pressing the '4x4' button on the dash. :P

i will say this, if you like the vintage, fine, go for it, but in hindsight, id rather have the latest platform (96) with the OBDII, the best 351 offered OEM, the best OEM auto, the most interior comforts, and then swap out the axles/transfer case/suspension out of a F-250 4x4. but thats me.

and watch out for previous owner wiring BS. a crappy stereo install from my PO cost me about 3 weeks of wiring and troubleshooting, and i still dont have cruise, blinkers, or my amp working.

There are not enough negative nouns, pronouns, verbs and/or adjectives to properly convey just how bad those things are. They are tippy, poor riding, poorly built and underpowered yet make up for all that with horrible fuel mileage.

I'm not very good with subtlety...what is it you're trying to say?
