The trunk on an S2000 is exactly big enough to fit two 5-gallon kegs and a 20lbs CO2 cannister.
What practical dimensions have you found for your own vehicles?

The NB Miata can fit one thoughtfully packed hockey bag.
The E30 cabriolets can fit 2 thoughtfully packed hockey bags.
An AE92's trunk can carry four 15" CRT computer monitors.
An AE92's rear seat area can carry a full set of 195/50/15s (and they say insurance-reducer rear seats are useless!)
A Samurai's cargo area can carry four 30x9.5 tires and four 15x7 wheels, separated. It's a tight fit though.
A Samurai can fit four dudes when a torrential downpour hits a beach party.
years ago, I worked at a Circuit City loading TVs into peoples' cars.
A 2005-ish Toyota Prius with the rear seat folded down, would fit a 50" TV in the back (without having to take it out of the box), and you could still close the hatch.
I think it was a plasma...might have been a projection...
Whichever kind it was, the box just barely fit lying flat, but it did completely fit.
an SN-97 mustang can fit two 17x8 with 245/45/17 tires in the trunk, but only ONE 17x9 with 275/40/17. This means carrying race tires one in trunk, two on back seat, and one on the passenger seat. That is, unless you get a trailer of the car or tire variety.
A 1988 subaru gl wagon's compartment beneath back area can fit a case of beer and the rear side compartments can hold multiple bottles of booze a piece. I might have had one on high school.
I can sleep comfortably stretched out in the back of a Cadillac CTS wagon. Cars you can comfortably sleep in are better than those you can't.
A Honda Fit will easily accommodate a BMW m10 drivetrain, with accessories and still attached to the transmission.
Your wife will be pissed when it leaks inside though.
A 67 Chevelle coupe can fit 4 dudes greater than 6' tall, a full size keg, a dozen bags of ice, a tub to hold said keg and ice at the party.
A Mazda 5 will fit a patio table, four chairs for it, an umbrella, 12 grocery bags and 10 cases of soda and behind the front seats.
A Geo Metro hatch will fit a set of wheels/tires, luggage, rear passenger, driver and front passenger with no seats folded down.
A Toyota Yaris will fit an 8 foot mailbox post with the backseat folded down.
the back of a land rover discovery 2 can fit 4 standard size 18 inch snow tyres standing up on their tread
i could fit my datsun on my 3500hd with no overhang beyond truck's rear bumper.
also, if you take the rear seat out and throw it in the dumpster at the building material supplier, you can fit an entire small kitchen's worth of cabinets in a 99 p71 with a rear cage if you don't mind the trunk being up and tied shut.

Had one of these back in the day. I will add that they will also hold 4 dudes and all their gear on a trip from Umass to Key Largo for spring break SCUBA diving.
Or a much younger KyAllroad and a truly delightful young woman named..... Uh, Amy for many, many trips to watch the submarine races at night.
The trunk of a 87 Town Car will hold a 1/2 sheet of plywood. With the lid shut.
A 78 Caprice Classic will hold 11 people and 4 cases of beer.
A 99 Chevy Venture will carry 2 complete GM 4200 I6 engines and get better fuel economy than is does empty.
A Toyota Echo can carry five people, a set of 14" rims (no tires), a gas generator, and a small dog.
A focus hatch can fit a washer, dryer and water heater , one at a time of course, and close the hatch. But, you couldn't put 8 foot lumber in and close the hatch. It won't quite reach even from dash to back, and it will Crack your windshield if you think it might shut.
A Volvo 940 wagon does not fit 2 adults, 2 kids, and everything you need to take with you on vacation, therefore--minivan!
Mazda MPV swallows quite a few 8' 2x4's--they slide right up between the seats. I'm pretty sure I've had some 10-foot lengths of PVC pipe in there and still got the hatch closed, but as I recall they were resting on the dashboard.
A 2010 Forte Sedan can carry:
4 wheels/tires, 2'x1'x2' tool box, large cooler, case of beer, 2 folding chairs, a pop up, 4 jack stands, one lightweight aluminum jack, 2 medium suitcases, 5gl air tank, 3gal sprayer, 2 bags of food, laptop, phone chargers, 2 adults, 2 pillows and an extra large floppy hat.
A 1984 Suburban will hold 20 sheets of 4x8 1/2" plwood inside with room to slide forward and backwards at stops.
A 2001 Suzuki Grand Vitara (NOT the XL-7) will hold 2 adults, 3 suitcases, one large dog crate (together), 2 large dogs, dog food for a week, water, cooler and pillows INSIDE, and a 3'x3'x2' square coffee table in a bag on the luggage rack.
It will also carry 10 8' yard timbers inside with the door closed if you lay them on the dash.
A S-series wagon is exactly long enough to carry 10' long pipe if you go from the passenger footwell to the upper corner of the rear hatch.
Speaking of practical dimensions... one "new" (ish) car feature I like is the square recesses in trunks/cargo areas for holding gallon milk containers. A lot better than it sliding all over the trunk.
