Any fans? PHC is my media highlight of the week. I guess I'm officially an adult. Damn.
Huge fan. Listen to Lake Wobegon nearly every day. I'll be sad when GK retires.
Oh, FWIW, I've enjoyed his stuff since I was about 7 years old (I'm 22 now).
Grew up listening to the show. Guy Noir is my favorite skit, followed by the news. I think you really have to be Lutheran to understand the show (I am)
Can't stand it.
Actually, I used to like it, and I still like the music, but good grief... Keillor's been doing the same darned show for over 30 years, and I'm kind of tired of it. Sunday afternoon radio listening is pretty slim.

Try Stuart McLean's Vinyl Cafe on PRI/CBC1 - similar but different.
Sirius 159
There's a podcast too. Hell, check out some podcasts from CBC. Spark, Quirks and Quarks, Canada Live (concerts), I dunno if they do Vinyl Tap by Randy Bachmann, DNTO, Q (Q Rules!).
Listened to CBC1 in the car all afternoon on the drive to Sudbury.
Yup...I like it. Between GK retiring and Click and Clack following suit, NPR has some major changes coming
Garrison Keillor had originally said he was retiring in 2013, but about 6 months ago, he said he was reconsidering. I wouldn't bet that he's leaving anytime real soon.
By the way, yesterday, PHC was aired from Shreveport LA. As usual, they had an excellent show, but it was especially good in my view, since they had one of my favourite guitar players, James Burton, on the show.
PHC does not do podcasts, which is too bad, since I'd like to catch those shows I've missed.
I like Car Talk but I would miss PHC more if it ever goes off.
We had a set of Lake Woebegone cassette tapes that were listened to on pretty much every trip when I was a kid. Haven't really listened much since, but have really great memories of listening as a child.
Say the movie... It was terrible, didn't even finish.

That was a good show.. I think that is what PHC so good.. he takes the show on the air all over the country.
Sadly he can't come to NJ.. we do not have a public broadcasting network anymore. Gov Christie broke up and sold off NJN (New Jersey Network) to the PBS stations in Philly and NYC to "save" a couple of million dollars a year

You ain't kiddin'!
I love the stuff he does after about 2:30 on ~This Video~
A family friend is somehow related to him distantly... I think it is their daughters brother-in-law's uncle or something. My dad showed him to me just a few weeks ago.
I much prefer RadioLab and Freakonomics and other podcasts where I'm learning something new...rather than listening to something old.

Huh?
My radio in the car is on our NPR station almost 100% of the time. I like Car Talk, PRC but my current fav is Wait Wait Don' t Tell Me.
I like lots of PHC, but it occasionally gets on my nerves when he drifts off into politics. Without this and Car Talk, NPR will be lost to me...
RadioLab is awesome.. I also love Wait wait don't tell me.
And then there is Diane Rheam. The day would not be complete without her. While she is ALL politics.. she straddles the fence and has people from both sides on.. sometimes at the same time.. and it all comes out civil and well behaved

I can't stand Wait, Wait Don't Tell Me.
What's RadioLab?
