Pulling the ripcord. Major life change

I haven't been on in a while but I thought I would check in.

The wife unit and I have made a major life change and I wanted to share it with everyone.

I'm quitting my job and selling my house in the lower mainland of British Columbia. We've bought a 44 acre farm in Young, Saskatchewan. Deal closed this morning.

No more car restoration, car shows, solving other peoples problems for them or taking showers in various automotive fluids.

We're packing up our house, motorcycles, cars and horses and getting the hell out. I've had enough of the crazy, enough of people etc.

The town has 300 people in it and I live 10 minutes outside of it. 

I'm still going to check in here now and then but I'm going to be busy being a vegetable farmer instead.

I would love regular updates. This has been a thought of mine for a long time but getting off the rat wheel isn't an easy thing to do. 

Wow congratulations! Sounds like an amazing adventure to step into. I'd also be in for updates.

Now I know a guy with 44 acres only 100km from me, so I can store my project cars behind his barn.  Darn convenient.

I'm not sure if it's what you're doing but there are a lot of people from Ontario cashing in on the insane market and retiring east where the prices are much more affordable.

Today I learned....

I enjoyed my time in Saskatchewan.  I remember going to the fair in Moosejaw and spending hours with binoculars watching Prairie Dogs and Ground Squirrels.  I recall thinking they're probably delicious.  Maybe with some Lentils and Mustard seed?

Congrats and enjoy, some version of this is regularly on my mind but I'm only 32 and have a long way to go until it's feasible :-P

your restoration work was meticulous.  if your approach to farming is as well executed, you will do well.  congrats on having the balls to make such a move.

All this is code for he is getting a bigger garage in the form of a barn and can start up an open header big block at 3:00 am with out annoying anyone.

Depends on what their business plan is. He might be telling you to eat his vegetables .
