Apparently there's a FB page called Bad movers Canada.
FYI
Talking to another friend over coffee today. When he moved from Manitoba to here, he used movers.
Apparently everything showed up wet and smelling like weed. A bunch of stuff went missing too.
So far I'm not hearing any positive first-hand stories from any of my friends who've used movers.
I bought a bike over the winter from a guy in Thunder bay. He was in the process of moving back there from BC and recommended the movers he was using to transport the bike, as they were then proceeding to Nova Scotia and I might get a deal. After some poor communication and not great pricing I decided against it and we posted on Shiply instead, taking the second offer. I was being very particular and I'm glad for it now. Because of that delay the bike ended up shipping a few weeks late, which was also a few weeks later than his stuff was supposed to arrive. A month after I had the bike he contacted me to see how I liked it, and out of curiosity, I asked if his stuff had arrived yet. He still hadn't seen it.
Pretty sure it was these guys

if you do this, I can put you in touch with a friend who made a similar jump down here in Delaware. He runs a small vegetable farm and sells to local restaurants and markets.
He probably has excellent advice for a new small farmer, and I'm sure he'd be willing to share.

We're doing it, I'm committed now, received the land title documents today.
I'd appreciate that. I might not get to it right away because I'm crazy busy but I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks.

Been packing the last few days and going through some boxes of my mom's stuff that I haven't dealt with since she passed so that's a good thing.
Today I finished the new floor in the front of the horse trailer, installed some LED lighting inside. Knocked together some sides for the flatbed so we can move our stuff with it and built some stake sides for Leo to cram in more stuff.

Well, that was fun.
Spent last night taking my dryer apart to find a burnt motor because one side of the circuit breaker in the panel died while the dryer was running.
New breaker installed. Searching for a cheap dryer because I only have two weeks of living in my house left.
Got my property tax notice yesterday too. Nearly $5000. That's up over $500 from last year. For less garbage pickup and a bunch of city services being unavailable for the last two years thanks to lockdowns.

Last of the horse trailer outfitting today.
New tires.
Serviced brakes and bearings.
Replaced faulty breakaway switch.
Installed camera system.
One week to go and the moving starts.
I'm really looking forward to seeing where this leads.

Last day at work today. Then helping with a car show tomorrow and I'm all done.
Moving begins on Monday or Tuesday.
It seemed so far away when we put the offer in back in February. Now it seems to have gotten here much faster than I planned.

Enjoy your last couple of days at work. Looking forward to seeing you take the next steps!
Thanks for taking us along for the next chapter! I'm excited for you!!

Your trailer even matches the truck! Ours does too, purely by accident. Those are great trucks, put many miles on one. Just keep the RPMs down.
I'm going to miss seeing your car posts here and on IG though. Best wishes on the new life
See you in a couple of weeks.

Eastbound and down, loaded up and truckin.
We're in Kamloops, giving the dogs a pee break.
Is that part of the long lost Jerry Reed lyrics?
I remember, "We're gonna do what they say can't be done..."
But, I don't remember, "We're in Kamloops, giving the dogs a pee break..."
Either way, great song!
Maybe the Western Canada release of the song had different words.

Sorry I didn't update last night. We pulled into a casino campsite in Calgary last night during a torrential rain storm.
Blew up the air mattress and slept in the Suburban.
Left this morning in even worse rain. As we were leaving, the radio report said they were thinking of declaring a state of emergency.
The GPS sent us down some godforsaken goat trail instead of the highway. After I reviewed the difference between highway numbers and secondary road numbers with the wife unit, we were off and running again.
We arrived at the new place about 8 hours after leaving Calgary, muddy but safe.

I admire anyone who can pull up the roots and have a go at a whole new life. I wish you the best!
