There's a conference at the Marine base in August that I may want to attend. I'd be driving there from MO and hoping to hit the Indy Mile motorcycle race on Friday night on the way back. The base hotel affiliated with the event is wanting $80/night, which sounds reasonable for the area. I'm open to suggestions for accommodations, beer and barbeque in case I can find the time.

Allmans Bar BQ - Fredericksburg...havent been here yet but probably closest to Quantico than these others. I hear its good
Shawns Smokehouse BBQ - Culpeper, very good, been here several times
BBQ Exchange - Gordonsville, very good, also been here several times
Buzz and Neds - Richmond, pretty good, only been here once though and it was during a festival so...kind of busy
Downtown Fredericksburg has a Capitol Alehouse that has a E36 M3load of beers on tap and in bottles...food is sort of hit or miss though. Can be great or just ok. I dont get over there enough to recommend too many other places, we simply havent tried that many
I'll second Shawn's Smokehouse and add Alamo BBQ down in Richmond.
