Does anyone else like rap? I am listening to Illmatic now.
That's a broad genre you're talking about.
There's definitely some stuff I listen to, but I don't know that my tastes are wide enough to give just a blanket "yes" answer to your question.
Of popular stuff I like Ludacris, some KRS-1; I used to be into Blackalicious/Gift of Gab, and more recently I've been listening to things like MC Frontalot.
I like Buttermilk Biscuits by Sir Mix Alot and Basketball by Kurtis Blow. Everything after around 1990 seems kind of mean spirited.

That is a good point. I have a bit of everything on my iPod including Public Enemy, NaS, Snoop Dog, Afroman, MF Doom, etc.

I'm not a big Hip Hop guy, but I do listen to some Doom (Mad Villian). Some of the underground stuff is actually really interesting. But I have no taste for the "pop a cap in yo ass" gangsta nonsense.
Yeah +1 for the old school stuff compared to what they're trying to call hip hop today. I was actually going to put up a thread but wasn't sure if others did listen lol
I actually listened to this this morning this this morning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HAozIJ5reRQ
Nas, Three 6 Mafia, Cannibus, Dr. Dre, Blackalicious, Geto Boyz and so on and so on. I like hip hop for the way it sounds and like said before, the story, not for the rediculous clothes, sayings, or the way they act. It's hard to prove that also since i'm a young guy.

Awesome album. Love that E36 M3.
DangerMouse....DOOM's brilliant
Yeah, one of my favorites for sure! I've been listening to some 8 ball & MJG recently too
Does Digital Underground count too? A little of the Humpty Hump finds its way onto the playlist for parties.
For everyone decrying modern hiphop, stop listening to what the radio/MTV is pushing as rap. The good stuff is still there, it's just not what's in the spotlight. Like any genre of music, the popular stuff is what appeals to the lowest-common denominator. Go find yourself some recent Mos Def if you think all modern rap is crap.

No, that's how you spell that stuff that sounds like it should be spelled "country".
