The only rap I really listen to lately is my old Dizzee Rascal albums. I figure if you can't understand the lyrics, you might as well really not understand the lyrics.

The Roots. That's it. Because they actually play instruments and don't make me want to commit homicide when I listen to them.

You aren't the only one. I also liked the remixes with Jay-Z.
I like all rap, I have been listening to rap since elementary school. I think it is because my parents were adamantly opposed to it. Kind of the same reason kids in the 50s listened to Rock n' Roll. It's a rebellion thing.

Doom is kinda unique in that he writes from an old guys perspective. That, and he has some really smart, occasionally brilliant turns of phrase. This was the first Hip Hop song I liked that wasn't the Beastie Boys.
It doesn't do anything for me. The thing is, there's no melody...it's just a guy talking rhymes.

The door is already been closed kid. Trust me son, there will be no Sam Cook's, Arethra Franklin's, Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin's, etc, etc being remembered 40-50 yrs later in that kind of music.
