Oh yes. Let's everyone be condescending towards each other over music. That goes both ways.

It's uncalled for. Everyone chill out. It's funny, the other music genre threads made it without this bullE36 M3 in it, why is this one so special? If you don't like it, then don't post in it. I didn't post in the country thread awhile back because i don't listen to it, because i don't like it. It's not a hard concept.

Love,
-The kid who doesn't know who Sam Cook is.

Yeah its like the import videos on youtube, muscle car guys starting e36m3. I listen to the oldies and bluegrass too but you don't see us going into them amd going off.

It is funny though with what was said because we are recognizing songs from the early 80's and on, over 20 years ago.......definetly memorable in my mind

I most enjoy all of the "golden age"/late 80s-early 90s sounds, as well as any artist with something important to say, be it Joe Strummer or Chuck D.

Also, I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Beastie Boys yet. [Sneaky edit: sorry, yes they have, back on page 3.) More 'hip-hop' than rap, I suppose, but always fun to listen to; accessible, and quite varied in style, too. 'Hello Nasty' is my favourite album of theirs.

If'n you loves you some Reggie Watts AND you loves you some Led Zeppelin, then you should click here for a sweet cover of No Quarter

His old band Maktub (say "mock tube"), out of Seattle, was pretty sweet. He's moved on to funnier pastures, though...

Like I said, I'm not a big rap fan, but I think there will be. 1989 the number. Another summer. Sound of the funky drummer.

There are already a number of people who could care less about the Stones or Zeppelin, much the way you may not have cared for your grandfather's barbershop quartet. I'm looking forward to when the oldies stations sends all those 45's to the dumpster and moves on to Big Daddy Kane and LL Cool J cassettes. I don't listen to much that was made after all shooting started, or anyone from the West Coast.

I'm not a musician, so I listen to music at a rather superficial level. I'm not afraid to admit that. Rap music, I just enjoy listening to it. I don't relate to it any more or less than I relate to most country western songs; it's just that my ears like it a lot more than country western music.

Some of my favorites: Kid Cudi, Lupe Fiasco, Twista, Mos Def, and whatever I've thumbed-up in Pandora.

Not a big fan of rap. I don't consider most of it music, although there are some truly talented musicians that are rappers.

But I sure do love some of this (NSFW).
