Ok, thanks to using my DSLR, I have no geo-logging on my pictures.
Only clues I can provide is that was between Charleston WV & Roanoke VA.
This is the location I am interested in finding.

I believe this photo came in down the road:

I have nothing to add other than that I rode the dualsport to work today, and now want to go about 20 hours out of my way on the way home... so thanks for that

I ended up looking up "spring branch" in this doc: http://www.dep.wv.gov/WWE/watershed/wqmonitoring/Documents/EcologicalAssessments/EcoAssess_UpKan_1996.pdf
which pointed me towards Milburn.

I was looking at that, but not remembering the expressway so close. Perhaps I just couldn't see/hear it through all the trees and kudzu vines.
I have never been to that area but I do play a lot of tag games on ADV rider and am pretty successful at narrowing down the possibilities ;)
I am going to say you were on Paint Creek Road and went east on 612 toward 19 at some point. Or if there was a big lake... Old Plum Orchard Road.
This will give you the list of all the roads it could be - and google maps with Satellite or Terrain on should help with the rest. I came up bust looking for anything having to do with that "Spring Branch" sign.

There is also an old railroad bed that follows Paint Creek and I-77 for a good ways from north of Beckley to South of Chelyan. It looks like some of it is an unofficial ATV trail. I'm pretty sure some of the road you were on follows the old rail line.
I amazed you could not hear the Turnpike traffic.
This was 2012...Maybe I did.
But I was also running a 600cc sportbike engine with a D&D Shorty on it.
