So my daughter is getting taller and it's getting more and more tricky to lift her out of her car seat without bumping her head in my mazda2.

The fits look like they have a good amount of headroom in the rear seat area. Can some owners chime in and confirm this?

If anyone knows the measurement from the seat bottom to the headliner that would be super helpful.

Thanks Dan

I've had two. There's tons of room inside.

That's 3" more than the 2. Thanks!

I can say it's noticeably much better getting kids in and out of the Fit than our Nissan Leaf.

We owned a 1st gen Fit. Unless you're daughter is ready to be an NBA center and wears Abe Lincolns' hat, she'll have no headroom issues in the back of the fit. We had kids in car seats in the Fit and there was more than enough room to get them in and out.

What everyone else said. I'll add that the first gens must have the headrests removed before you fold the rear seat down. Some of them are quite prone to water leaks as well, which is why the interiors often smell terrible.

They actually don't need to be removed - you can use the little lever on the top of the front seat to slide the front seat forward, fold the rear seat, then slide the front seat back. The whole system is pretty ingenious.

That said I removed the rear headrests in ours since all they do is obstruct view. Our rear seat passengers are too short to get any use out of the headrests.

I prefer the looks of the first gen, but the second gen is more refined. The newest model seems to have lost some of its edge.

Where does the water come in at? Gasket seal on door or hatch go bad?

In reply to Klayfish:

My daughter is tiny which only adds to the annoyance of getting her out without bumping her head. The car just has no backseat headroom for lifting a child out of a car seat.

Unfortunately it seems to come in at cracks which form at the body seam on the rear of the roof drip rails.

This is where the roof seam meets the upper hatch opening.

Fixable with some silicone applied to the area.
