Because this forum is an unending font of knowledge and experience on every topic...

Does anyone have experience with tantra chairs - those S-shaped chaise lounges designed for playing around with different positions and such?

There are a number of different brands and sources to buy them. Any experiences with or recomendation for or warning against particular brands?

The highest end version appears to be Tantra Chair brand (semi-NSFW; nothing explicit on page linked, but has explicit stuff on site). There are less expensive versions like this one.

We watched the show 'How to Build a Sex Room' on Netflix, and liked the look of these as something potentially fun. There doesn't seem to be any place to look at and just sit on one in person, so are looking for reliable reviews.

Slightly-humorous anecdote - wife asked me, "Why haven't you just asked GRM? You ask them about everything else, why not about the Tantra Chair?" I thought she was giving me crap, but apparently she was serious.

No experience with them, but now I'm intrigued.

Not sure where I would put one in my house, but I am a genius carpenter.  Maybe I'll make one that folds up or something.

Fancy sex furniture sounds like a FerrariChat question to me cheeky

Was not familiar with them. Pretty cool.
Back when my wife and I were physically capable, we were amorous enough not the really need the help! Not sure we could really take advantage of that chair now!

Well, this is GRM so surely there is someone who has MADE their own custom sex furniture here...

Perhaps a certain video streaming site shows the complete functionality of some.

You'll probably have to watch with the wife to count that as research.

Don't worry... that website has about 20 videos showing you all the graphic details.  Sharing this with Hot for Teacher tonight

That seems pricey for a chair dedicated to sex.  Are there positions that aren't achievable with normal furniture and maybe a few pillows?

In reply to ProDarwin :

There was a triangular cushion advertised in men's magazines (and maybe even Car & Driver) for such bedroom activities. That may work better as it can be pushed off the side for cuddle time.

That's why I'm looking to get feedback from unbiased people with experience with them.

Is it that pricey though? How much money would you pay to be 1 second faster around a track? How often will you actually make use of that ability? How often would you make use of specialized sex furniture?

The nice ones don't have to be dedicated to sex. They are reportedly quite comfortable to lounge around and read in.

The reviews I'm seeing seem to be overwhelmingly positive. It's possible that this is a case of the phenomenon where, when people spend a bunch of money on something that's just... fine... they like to highly recommend it to justify their purchase (e.g. "This Lexus is WAY better than a boring Toyota").

Reviews I'm seeing seem to generally indicate that - Yes, furniture like this does give you options that regular furniture and pillows can't really do.

Seem to be two big advantages to furniture like this. You can both straddle it. You can get your legs underneath you for leverage, but not have to use them to support yourself. They also allow for adjusting and changing positions easily. Sure, there probably aren't any positions that you couldn't achieve with furniture and pillows, but you'd have to take the time to set everything up. If you then want to change positions, you have to set everything up again.

There are less expensive options. There are simple wedge pillows strategically sized to make it easy to set things up, and made from firm foam to support activities once there.

There are also less expensive chairs that supposedly work effectively as well. The more expensive ones seem to be paying a premium for higher build quality and longer lifespan, and looking more like regular furniture that you can just leave out and people won't know what it's for (unless they already know).

My first thought is how do you explain it to the inlaws when they come to visit.  My second thought is, is it washable.

These are totally our thoughts as well.

With the expensive one - her parents would never know. We have friends who would, but they'd probably laugh and be jealous.

The nice ones wipe clean easily. The less expensive ones have removable covers that can be washed.

Damn those are nice. Sent it to my wife and she's all for it. Thanks!

Edit: I think the price is reasonable. I prefer to have sex with my wife more than I work on cars or anything automotive related. People spend more than this on E36 M3ty cars just so they can hang out with middle aged hairy men in Florida for 2 days.

I recommend watching the Netflix show "How to Build a Sex Room".

It was surprisingly entertaining and gave my wife and I some good ideas and inspiration (such as these chairs). There's some kinkier builds, but more lean towards personal, romantic, and fun.

what about an inflatable one?   that way you can take it with you on special trips and you don't have to worry about your parents or inlaws asking questions.

Our parents don't go in our "rec room," IE bedroom and we don't have any interesting stuff like this in there. We have a spare bedroom and bathroom for visitors to use, so no reason they'd be in there.

Also, we watched that show a while back, it's really wild and was pretty interesting even though the woman doing the designing seemed to use a lot of the same things for each house.

Ever have sex on an air mattress?  I would imagine an inflatable chair would be a wicked blooper-fest.

I mean, any sex is better than no sex (usually) but I would want my sex furniture to be up to the task.

Damn. I'm jealous of that.

The designs I like the best and would love to achieve are where the couple has a large bathroom that just opens strait up to the bedroom. Like - double headed shower and/or 2-person tub. Our house is plenty of space for two people with no kids, but it's 1.5 bath with no good way to add more.

We do have a sizable finished basement. So we're working on a plan to make the basement more luxurious and relaxing, but in a guest-friendly, not overtly "sex room" way, then add some fun elements to the bedroom.

My first thought seeing that is all that "crazy" furniture from the 60s & 70s now makes sense. .

I lucked out. The previous owners had a lot of custom elements to the master bedroom and closet. The see through fire place, suit and closets. Unfortunately, the basement (around 2k sq ft) isn't finished at all and I have no idea what to do with it.
