I went through two boxes and couldn't find the Porsche!
In reply to chandler :
That's sweet!
I couldn't resist this when I saw it this morning. I used to ride to school in one with plywood covering what was left of the rear floorboard.

The hot wheels on the left. If you're able to find a whole set plus an extra brz. I'd pay for that
Found them , if you still need?
Snagged the new Ducati Scrambler.
And this! I know it's not a new casting, but there is no conceivable reason to make a Rampage. A RAMPAGE!
You know its old...because there's a 3 wheeler in the bed.
managed to snag this one out of my bin of childhood cars before my 4 year old saw it. From 1990. In pretty mint condition.
Not sure why I didn't post these before, but a few months back, my 2yo nephew was staying over and he spotted my Hot Wheels 18 wheeler filled with childhood Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars from the 70's and 80's. After he was done playing with them, I took some pics!
The 18 wheeler was a post-childhood pickup from Savers, but it works well to store cars.
When I was a kid, I loved the Ultra Hots cars. The wheels did it for me; they are so freaking RAD! I had a ton of these, but these ones are the survivors.
While perusing my old cars, I noticed some trends. There were a few vehicles I had a ton of, one being Porsche 928's. I liked the purple Ultra Hots one so much that I got a new one once I mangled the original. I had a thing back then about pulling the windows out of the cars so I could see the interior. Some of them, I also tried cutting the doors open so they could fly, like Matt Tracker's Camaro in M.A.S.K.
Another trend: stepside pickups. My dad had a 1983 F150 XLS Stepside back when I was a kid (it RULED), so naturally, I gravitated toward these.
These were favorites of mine, both made by Majorette. The Ford Sierra (!!!) had opening doors (like M.A.S.K.) so that one flew around the living room a lot. The Thunderbird had a hood that opened, so I rightfully ripped that off, because I thought it looked way cooler without it.
What Italian kid could be without two true Italian Rally classics? Both of these were purchased in Italy when I went there as a 7 year old in 1989. I think the Fiat was actually given to me by a flight attendant on the Alitalia flight to Italy. The Stratos was purchased one of the days we went into the city to the markets. I'm really glad these survived the trip home.
Then there's these two. The yellow '57 was one of my favorites, and always a star of the "car shows" I would have on the living room floor. The other one was a hand-me-down from my older cousins, which dates from the mid-70's. I ripped the front bumper off to make it look meaner. I dig 'em both big time!
Another trend: Camaros, Firebirds and Trans Ams. I have A TON of these. The bug bit me real young with these. Lots of 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen cars in the stash, like this one that flips over on its own.
Check these two out: a 280ZX and a Dodge Omni 024!
I also have a bunch of these tin race cars. Porsches, Maseratis, BMW's, and more. Super cool.
Another favorite was this not-quite-the-A-Team van. Super RAD!
After finding all of those, I remembered that years ago, I rescued a bunch of toys from a bin at my parents' house. My dad was instructed by my mom to toss this bin years ago, but my dad, either in a fit of laziness or having the foresight that I might want them, stashed them under their back deck. Years passed, and the lid cracked to the tote, letting water in. Some of the toys had 9V batteries in them, which I think created an electrolytic solution somehow, because metal stuff was remarkably preserved! I dug out the bin that had these toys in my garage, sorted out all the cars, and, well...
All of these cars were submerged in water for over 20 YEARS. Some are in rough shape, but most are in the same condition as the day they were tossed in that bin. Again, notice the trends: stepside pickups, Porsche 928's, and plenty of Trans Ams and Z28's. Some of them are Hot Wheels Crack-Ups, which are tough to find these days. So happy to still have all of these!
In reply to Tony Sestito :
Ooh I know I have some of those! We must be somewhat close in age. I definitely have some crack ups. And the ones where the rear end can be lifted and the engine sticks way out.
In reply to solfly :
I was all about the gimmicky cars back when I was a kid! Those mentioned above, the ones with the keys (there were the Key Racers and other ones that just came with fake car keys), and the ones with the manual shifter in the back window that would pop wheelies were my favorite. I used to have a 2nd Gen RX7 wheelie popper back then, but I haven't been able to find that.
I also have a couple 70's style flip top Funny Cars: a FWD Charger and a 1979 Trans Am, because of course. Those are in the back row/center of the last pic on my post.

I happened upon a set recently. Thanks for keeping an eye out
Went to pick up some meds today, but the power had flickered there so I had to wait while the computers came back on line. And found these.
And because neither one of those is a Porsche, Audi or Volkswagen (my primary focus) I picked up this in 1/32.
And while this is NOT a Hotwheels... Last week from Market of Fleas.

It just looked kool.
Found this out in the wild, seeing how moving into the house and and working on it non stop, it was every rewarding to find.
