Ladies and gentlemen I have ran in to an unexpected issue, my friend that I have been able to count on to get garage time has come across personal issues and no longer has time.
Was hoping to reach out to GRM and see if there is anyone in the Richmond area who would have a empty slab or possibly a bay to work out of so I can get some wrenching done to the 8 and possibly down the line with the Protege.
Would do it here at the apartment but have already had a written warning from the head office for doing a tune up on the P5.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and best believe we are looking for a rental house with a garage right now!
Plenty of space here, but it's a bit of a drive.

Not exactly Richmond here either but if you can't find anything closer I am at least within driving distance.
I was going to point you at the GRM Assist List but it doesn't look like we've got anyone on it in Richmond.

I'm hoping for one of these rentals to come up and I definitely will be on the list, thank you everyone for the help, I'll be in contact soon moxnix!
How much time do you need? I can't accomodate a car sitting for long periods of time disassembled, but I can clear a bay for you for a day or two on the weekend, I'm just north of Richmond in henrico.
EDIT: Info added to on-road assistance thread.

Would just be for basic 60k maintaince items for the RX, would not say anymore then a few hours (have to go through the wheel well for plugs on an 8 unfortunately)
While not the best option, or often the easiest, sometimes the guys at chain shops can be helpful. Until they tore it down, the manager of the local Monroe was a decent guy. He'd let the guys that worked there do cash work if they weren't busy, or if someone was off or it was really slow, he'd rent the bays for like $25/hour. Bay, tools, lift, etc. I'm in a similar state, as the second garage that used to rent lift space just shut down.
I don't understand, maybe because I've only seen it on top gear, but it seems like the UK has it figured out. Actual garages with actual tools, where you can do the work yourself for a small rental fee. Seems like a great business for wrenchers, particularly those living in apartments or townhouses. But I'm sure that lawyers and insurance shiny happy people who wouldn't be able to tell an intake from a piston wouldn't be to open to the idea though.

It's funny you say that, they have automotive craft shops on most military bases and when I was still in I would hit them up all the time, in fact there's one in ft lee, issue is you have to be active or DOD employee to use them, seems like I might have to buy up an old shop one day and give this a shot lol.
When I lived in CA, my roommates husband was a contractor for the air force at the local base. He took me up to use the hobby shop, shooting range, and paintball course pretty regularly and no one had a problem with it as long as I didn't wander around base. Maybe if you know anyone at ft lee they are as lenient?

Happy to help out with that. I'll be in town this weekend, and Memorial Day weekend. My contact info is in the on road assistance thread. 6-pack of legends brown ale for shared garage consumption would be welcome if you're a beer guy.

Click & Clack (car talk guys) used to run a garage like this.. They stopped because they spent all of their time helping the poor slobs renting the space with their problems, and not getting paid for the diagnostic and help time like a regular mechanic would.
That, and I'm sure that insurance would kill it before it left the nest. I think everyone has had that dream at some point, though.
JtSpellS - CT is a bit far away, but you're welcome to use my shop on the way to a Palmer, Lime Rock or Thompson track day :)

Greatly appreciated, if you are ever down this way I'm only about 2hrs from VIR and about an hour from NCCAR and the same offer is always extended!
