+1. That's what those hooks are for!!! I think I've tied the laces on my work boots twice in four years.

Well, I learned something new in 2017 yes

Well, you've made 99% of your goal so far. Congratulations and get far away from home for the next three days (because we all know that most accidents happen within 10 miles of home)! devil

I made no progress. I should have resolved to gain back the 70 lbs I lost because I pretty much nailed that.

Personal: Get back into lifting, Bench 225, Squat 275, Deadlift 300, Bent Over Row 225, and Power Clean 185 by end of year. Continue running half marathons, and if the stars align, go for a full marathon in the fall. Find activities that allow me to spend more time with my family, and involve the kids in more projects so they can learn skills, and we can spend time together.

Cars: Get the Mustang put back together and hit 300k in mileage, catch up on maintenance items on the other two vehicles.

House: re-clear the brush in our front yard, bring in top soil, and get some grass growing. Maybe replace some more windows.

Started well on the weight lifting, then it died in March.  Made a much-needed job change, but that took up a huge amount of time.  Did a half-marathon in April and ran 25 miles in a single day (not consecutively) in September, so I'd consider the running goal met.

One project included re-doing the parsonage for our church with my father-in-law  (compleyely remodeled the kitchen, and tiled the bathroom, entryway, and hallways).  Was pretty successful in involving the boys, so that was a plus.

Also cleared a ton of land in preparation for a 14' by 30' shed/garage from The Barnyard.  Build/buy thread coming soon.  Also buried a bunch of downspouts while I had rented a tractor with a backhoe.  Boys were involved again, so that's another positive.  Both major projects took a lot of time that could have gone to lifting, but also kept me in reasonably good shape.  So even though I completely blew off my lifting goals, I'm pretty happy with what I acconplished in 2017.

Changing jobs (new one has half the commute of the old one) and the new shed/garage has definitely decreased our stress level, which should give us some longer-term benefits, as well.

For 2018, I want to get back into weightlifting, run a couple of half marathons, run a marathon in the Fall, and play a lot of basketball with my boys.

Mustang is at 297.5k, so hoping to hit 300k in the Spring (more difficult with the shorter commute).

Self:

  • Figure out what I want to do when I grow up. Same as every year. One of these days I will.
  • Continue exercising, especially in the face of a lot of upcoming travel
  • Try to enjoy myself a little more

First one was the usual total fail. Second one needs more work but at least I was working out a little bit more than I used to. Third one, well, as in the preceeding 49 years, was a total bust.

Car/Bike stuff:

  • Try to wait until the "dust" from the new job settles enough rather than accumulate more projects. That's going to be hard given that I can't stay off CL, plus I still don't have a motorcycle for daily use as the last one I bought didn't quite work out that way.
  • Stop procrastinating and finally apply for my racing license before it's too late. I only need to complete the physical anyway, all I need to wait for atm is the new contact lenses as my prescription has changed again...
  • Run at least one proper club race this year. Probably means renting a car, but that's OK with me.
  • Get my act together and title the remaining two bikes I brought over from the UK. In 2010. I've already created more work for me on that one as the paperwork requirements have changed.

Well, got a bike I like. Still haven't managed to sell the other one

Got the racing license.

No race - between the 996 accident and the still ongoing saga with my achilles heel, I wasn't really in any shape to race.

No progress on titling the remaining bikes either.

Finally get around to putting this...

into this...

I just need to get more motivated. The only real expense will be new exhaust since the truck currently has a six cylinder in it. Other than that, install the EFI wiring and normal small block Chevy swap stuff. I've had this engine sitting on my stand for over a year now. I even have a scar on my shin from tripping over it in the dark shop one time.

Done with plenty of time to spare.

Plus I did a ton more to the truck beyond the engine swap/EFI conversion.
