The Greatest of all time has slipped away. Muhammad Ali has passed. :(
(I request that CTE, concussion talk be kept to another thread as we have a few open regarding those issues, and that we leave this one to remember an incredibly great man with an incredible legacy).

That's been a long time coming. RIP, Cassius.
Wow!! I saw on the ESPN bottom line this morning that he was ill but they said he was supposed to be going home today. Very, very sad.
All I can find is that he is on life support, not gone yet.

Family is currently preparing a statement
I was just wondering the same thing. I turned on ESPN to find coverage, and there's nothing at all. Don't see it on CNN or other news outlets.
Twitter is abuzz with the claims he's on life support, about to die, or dead. It's not in the news. The news has him in the hospital with resperatory problems..
This one I'm actually a little sad about. He really was one of the greats, and really did a lot for boxing, black people, and sports in general.

I imagine almost everyone in the civilized world has seen this image.

Very few athletes choose to utilize they fame and platform as a channel to inform and educate on what they believe. Some athletes don't want to deal with a potential dip in popularity or loss of sponsors, others aren't comfortable in championing a cause or being the rallying point for a sediment. Ali made a point to be a well versed, well thought man who just happened to be the greatest heavyweight boxer of all time. It took decades for some of his detractors for his actions outside of the ring to understand why he did and felt as he did.
From what I'm seeing on Twitter, he's still on life support.

If this is true, they need to let the guy go. He's looked like a walking corpse for a long time. His presentation at the london Olympics was sad. He can't be happy, if he even knows what day it is. Sometimes, people dont owe us E36 M3 and we need to let them move on.
Come on Ali, one more Rope-A-Dope!

I read online that they're waiting for family to get there to say goodbye.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!
An amazing athlete, but a more amazing man. His impact on American society was enormous . I loved the banter between he and Cosell. Ali was one funny, articulate, thoughtful dude.
He's been living in the cage of Parkinsons for years---mind able to think, but not able to articulate that thought. What a cruel fate for such a brilliant man. If he is gone, I'm sure he's happy to be out of that cage.
My biggest lesson in wagering came from him.... DON'T!

His trash talk is one of the reasons why he was so great. He talked trash, backed it up with fists, and then later on learned from his mistakes.
