I think this sums Hopper's attitude up nicely.

Dennis Hopper.....the REAL subject of the Sinatra tune "I did it MY way".
This TV has been running a few of the older Hopper films off and on over the last month. While they are generally "filler" type movies, the guy definitely brought SOMETHING to every role. Off the top of my head "Hoosiers" is one of my favorite Hopper flicks.

My ex-fatherinlaw met Dennis Hopper at the bike shop that was building the bikes for "Easy Rider" said he was a genuinely nice guy. Peter Fonda not so much.
I liked Hopper in every movie I saw him in. Great Actor.

One of my favorite Hopper movies is "Flashback" with Keifer Sutherland.
Blue Velvet. Nuff said.
He was pretty sick. At least he's not in pain anymore. RIP, he was one of a kind.
We knew it was coming, but still a huge bummer. One of a kind as an actor.

True Romance had a scene with Dennis and Christopher Walken that is hard to describe adequately. Worth watching just for that.

I wonder what happened with his divorce? He was in a very nasty divorce where the wife was trying to wait him out (death) and he was trying to divorce her before his death so his kids could get his estate.
