I still remember the first time I heard "Thrill is Gone" as a teenager. Led me to discover a whole new world of music. Maybe we'll add that song to our set tonight in tribute.
RIP. Great Entertainer. Saw him three times. The first time, the band was playing a few warmup songs before BB came on stage and I thought, "Wow the rhythm guitar player is pretty good." Then BB started playing off stage and the sound he made was astounding.
Never got to see him, but I certainly enjoyed his work. I'm more of a rock fan than a blues fan, but I also know that rock and roll wouldn't be what it is without his influence. One of the true greats of all time. RIP.
About 15 years ago, my best friend and I drove five hours to Des Moines to see him. We were college freshmen....we weren't the only white people in the room, or the only young people in the room, but I'm pretty sure we were the only young white people in the room. He was one hell of a guitar player and entertainer. Even at 75 he still played for a solid hour and a half (I understand his shows got shorter in the last few years - can't say I'd blame him).
I'm glad I got to see him.
I saw him a LOOOOONG time ago... San Juan... 1974? My family was on vacation and he happen to be playing in the Old San Juan Hotel.... being 15 I was bored
rest in peace........
Great music. Great man. He will be missed. Heard he did 100+ concerts a year after age 80! Amazing. He certainly had a full life.
I actually do the "BB wrist wiggle" for tremolo when I play air guitar.
Sing on, BB and Lucille. You were game changers.
Never saw him perform, but I liked his music and his personality. For a blues man, he didn't have all the baggage that so many of them do. RIP good sir

Sort of. Two guys died in a fire that they started from fighting in a bar over a woman named Lucille. He ran back into the fire to save the guitar.
A guy I went to high school with is a professional musician who goes by the name Jackie Greene. He really got his big break when he got the opportunity to tour with B.B. King. He obviously learned a lot from the experience, and you can hear the difference in his music from before and after. He is now a member of the Black Crows.
