Seems like his sidewalls act more as suspension than his springs do.
I LOVE this answer! My thoughts exactly. Even if it were MY private land, I'd never destroy it like that. Any stock Wrangler with a rear locker and 33" Super Swampers could do most if not all of that with thoughtful tire placement and well-timed throttle input.
That being said, I LOVE rallies and Baja!
That is definitely the most pissed-off car I have ever seen.
What are you guys so worked up about?
This is the best.. 2wd ftw

So streetable can't climb no hill, huh? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDNS-7pjcRw&feature=related

Actually, after all the love for the driver that's been shared, my ADD-riddled brain went an entirely different direction when I saw the vid.
My question was: Was that rolling cage actually "engineered", or is it mostly "DOM art"?
btw, great article about it here:
Pirate4X4 article
Of course, they don't say how much it weighs!
That's the pic you hotlinked? Dude...

For those of you talking about spectators and treading lightly.....what do you think of events like baja and stage rallying?
Better to keep your mouth closed and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt
You don't even really know, do you? But by all means, please provide me with some more entertainment. Staggering amounts of ignorance makes me laugh!
posting drunk?
No, but you should refrain from posting while stupid, shiny happy person!
Ack. Neat rig, but it's about 200hp past the guy's intelligence level.

You need to cool it.
And maybe go work on your DSM rally car with it's open exhaust that doesn't possibly hurt the environment in any way.
Do we see the hypocrisy now? Good.
Once we learned that this was filmed on private property, no further discussion on "tread lightly" or "OMG THE EARTH WILL DIE" was necessary. Period.
Nobody here can figure out why you all of a sudden started personally attacking Cotton, which is likely why he asked if you were posting drunk. That was my thought as well, since i don't like to believe that any rational GRMer would do what you just did in their normal state of mind.
I kind of view this guy as a hick-version of kim kardashian... What happens when rich parents spoil there kids.
This thing is loud, and awesome. But I have no interest in it. I miss my TJ.

I am thoughly unimpressed with the level of discourse in this thread. Y'all should take a cue from the "neighborhood bully" thread...feel free to disagree with each other but don't get all shiney happy about it
I was wondering what kind of engine he had in that beast...I should've known it was an LSx...
I tried to re-rail it with a tech question .
Oh...and a shameless video plug.

Thanks Celica, that pretty much sums it up.
Hitempguy - I don't know what your problem is. I asked if you were posting drunk to give you the benefit of the doubt and a chance at a normal reply......we see how that worked out. Feel free to disagree with me all you want, but calling me stupid, shiny happy person, etc is childish and out of line. I'd like to see you get banned.

I would LOVE to see you try the same obstacles in a streetable jeep.....hell I'll pay your entry fee.
OH I'm sure I couldn't make it up all the same stuff he did, but I'd make it places that'd make your jaw drop. It's just a style thing really. I prefer to use driver skill to negotiate an abstacle rather than turning the throttle switch to WOT and hanging on. Seeing those specialty rigs doesn't do much for me.

yeah I can see that.....I like both though. Sometimes I like to hit the technical stuff and other times I like to go WFO. Actually, I hardly ever wheel my jeep anymore.....I generally have a lot more fun on the dirt bikes and atv.

the really impressive stuff is when a skilled driver gets hold of a well-done buggy, not that one, needs more articulation, and shows what is possible with a purpose built vehicle.
