I got a pair of quads for Xmas during the pandemic. Tried them around the house, fell over a lot, put them away. I was always an in-line skate kid growing up, so the quads are completely foreign.

Need to make the short trip to the local roller rink soon to try them out for real in an environment set up for me to not hurt myself too badly.

My amount of skating tapered off quite a lot. Mix of staying away from parks early in the pandemic, then some injury recovery time, plus drama in a group I was a part of turning a hobby into a chore for a bit. I need to get back to it.

Someone mentioned earlier in the thread about doing a custom build on Vans shoes. I very strongly recommend AGAINST doing that. Skateboard shoes are NOT a rollerskate boot. A proper skate boot makes the skates a single unit with your foot. A sneaker doesn't do this. You end up having to use tiny muscles of your feet to control the skates instead of larger muscles of your ankle or leg.

My 11yo daughter is a very talented quad skater and since she's an only child it means I am always on the hook to skate with her. I enjoy it but have a long way to go! I can do mohawks and circle turns but skating backwards is super slow and requires a lot of focus.

I built up some Frankenstein skates with some used Avanti plates and VNLA anniversary boots that I got on closeout. The only thing I don't like about the setup is that they're fancy boots and I am not up to the level to have fancy skates. It's like showing up to a track day in a GT3 when you're still on a learner's permit.
