I have bee a huge fan of SNOPES.com since I found out about this thing called the internet.
I don't know how many times I was able to convince people that Microsoft wasn't giving out 500$ gift cards to LOWES-DEPOT for sharing or liking a post. Or that Ronald Mc Donald didn't murder the Hamburger over a crack debt.
Anyways, apparently Snopes is running out of money. I say apparently, because 20 years of reading Snopes has made me skeptical regarding things I see or hear in the Media or Online.

Ha. In this case, what is really behind their financial problems is something you'd usually check on Snopes. The truth is stranger than fiction.

Yeah... no thanks. I'm not sending any money to that mess.
I though GRM was the place to go for the truth? If J.G. says it, its true.
I'm a big fan of Snopes and wouldn't mind donating to keep them running, but this is a divorce-dispute clusterberkeley gone wrong for the website, and I'm staying out of it.
I quit looking at them when it was shown they were promoting their own agenda rather than the truth here a little while back.

Exactly this. They have an agenda big time

I'd like to hear about this. Got a link?
I like snopes for the run of the mill BS, but it seems they do have an agenda on some stuff.
But obviously the world isn't black and white and just asking a question is the trigger sometimes...not whether is is true or not.
Also, while I like them, it's probably the equivalent of using a bucket to drain the ocean of stupidity out there.
Donate to 'save the children' before this, IMO.

Yeah, started out funny, factchecking urban myths and other lighthearted stuff. But lately they have had a seriously slanted agenda. Send your money to a real charity.

Interestingly enough, the source of this may be from...
... wait for it...
... a chain email!!
Is Snopes.com run by “very Democratic” proprietors? Did they lie to discredit a State Farm insurance agent who attacked Obama?
(pause for obligatory statement that factcheck.org is politically slanted)
Concrete proof that Politifact and Factcheck.org are biased liars
Of course there are others:
The 10 Best Fact Checking Sites
(pause for obligatory statement that mediabiasfactcheck.com is biased)....
argh..
Hey, everyone will have some sort of bias, it's almost impossible to avoid, but there is still good information on these sites, but it's always a good idea to be at least a bit skeptical of most anything you read, except for Facebook, family would never lie to you...

I wouldn't mind seeing them implode and disappear permanently. Maybe they can reliably figure out the truth when it comes to Bill Gates giving me a million dollars for forwarding an email, but on some important issues they just seem to provide another biased source promoting the usual propaganda as the rest of the failing mainstream media.
Oh, yeah. I wanna give money to that clusterberkeley.
Snopes article. Die Die Die commie skum!

In reply to SEADave:
Like the Save Ferris Bueller coin drive
On Christmas Day 2016 President Obama signed the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act which contained the Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act nestled in it's belly.
If you think rise of the term 'fake news' and widespread attempts to discredit independent free news media is strangely coincidental with the governments new license to weave it's own narrative, suppress information and be the one and only source of "truthiness" for the American people, well, you might just be on to something.
It won't be long though, before it's a crime to tell anyone what you think.

Some good news, Snopes got a hold of $500k of the disputed ad revenue:

But is that really good news? Or bad news being presented as good news?
Here we go again. How bout we just all agree to berkeleying stop and shut the berkeley up for berkeleys sake? "Oh look at me, I have political opinions!" Do you know who gives a berkeley about your opinions besides you? berkeleyin nobody.

Hmmm?
Forum: "a medium (such as a newspaper or online service) of open discussion or expression of ideas"
from Merriam-Webster.com
I was of the opinion that we were discussing snopes. Or is this topic only for those who think snopes is the greatest, Yay?
Or perhaps your comment was directed at someone else. Carry on.
