Was driving out of Cedar Lake, IN yesterday and while turning out onto Route 41, I saw it out of the corner of my eye.
Damn it's huge.

I have seen a few of them. We have had a shop called Topspeed here in north Atlanta get their tire work and alignments done here that has a couple of GT-Rs. We actually just mounted their One Lap of America GT-R wheels and tires up last week.

Yeah, definitely on the zaftig side. I rode along with GTB_ZR1 in his once.....something that size has no business being that quick through the cones!
I rode in one last year. It really is amazing how fast the car is (straight line and handling) for how big and heavy it is.
The launch control is breathtaking

It is giant next to say a Camry. They are large cars. If you see one sitting in traffic it is obvious how big they are. They are on the scale height wise with small SUVs.
Not a car that does anything for me either, but I sure can respect the performance.
I see them a lot around here and they aren't all that big in reality. They look big when sitting by themselves due to the high waist line and body lines, but when I see them by any regular sized car I'm always amazed at how small they really are.
We had one autocross yesterday. When sitting on grid, they're huge. Then again, my Mazda2 is a really really tall car when on grid. It was pretty amazing watching him make his way through the tightest slalom we've had in a long time. He drove the car well.
There's one here, the owner couldn't resist the urge to rice and put a body kit, big white rims and aftermarket spoiler on it. It doesn't look bad, but...it's not really an improvement.
Probably cost over $400k landed
Edit: Blurrycam pic:
Last year when I was working in Lafayette, I'd see one on the Purdue campus frequently. It was owned by a student, and he drove it year-round, in the snow, on the stock tires.

Thats not surprising when you consider all the hardware required to make a GT-R do what it does.
If Range Rover made a sports coupe it would probably be alot like the GT-R, at least on paper. But it would definitely have a prettier face
All things considered though, I wouldn't be quick to kick a GT-R out of my garage.
There are two guys with GT-Rs that randomly show up at our autocrosses. One of them is a grey one that is driven daily. It's filthy outside, and the owner drives the snot out of it. A real man. I like.
The other one is red. The owner sometimes pulls into the parking lot to watch the event. When asked why he isn't racing, his response is that he "doesn't want to break it." A pansy. I am disappoint.
I mean don't get me wrong guys, the GT-R is a spectacular machine. I just have never liked how much it it differed from the previous GT-R and it's lack of manual transmission. It has taken several years for it's styling to warm up to me and realistically the only styling ques I like are the quad taillights.
I just can't get wiggly over them. I saw one recently in Montreal and it did sound quite nice echoing around the narrow cobbled street, but NOTHING like the v12 Ferrari the next day. That one made the hair on my arms stand up before I even saw the car. Hell, I don't even know which model it was, I was too busy having an audio-gasm from the exhaust notes ricocheting around narrow street.
I saw 2 this past weekend ...at least once and usually twice per 30 min. session ... can you imagine the closure rate compared to my mostly stock D16A6 CRX ?
actually it's gets a bit scary some of the time
I dunno, that GT-R looks tiny next to this guy:

There were two at a cruise-in Friday night. I talked to the owner of one, gentleman probably in his mid-late 60s. I had thought they were only Japan & had to wait 25 yrs to import. I was wrong.
He said this one was at a local Nissan dealership & while talking to a sales guy, the salesman mentioned he had this in the back. He took one look at it & called the boss/wife to confirm. Bought it that day.

The R35 GT-R has been available in the US since its introduction to the world. The previous models however were not able to grace us with their presence.
