This used to happen to my sister and I in Arizona all the time. We'd be out at dinner or something(she was a middle school teacher at the time, now works at USAA), having a couple drinks, and the parents of her students/her students would see us out and be all over us. My sister was the 'cool' teacher at her school, was a cheerleading/volleyball/cross country/track coach, as well. Her students are in their early 20's now and she'll still call/text me to tell me about her students seeing her out and are now buying her drinks. Crazy.

When I worked in hotels out west(mainly Four Seasons hotels), I'd see our guests out at bars/restaurants all the time, and on a couple of occasions, they've even picked up my dinner/drink tabs. I now try to work on the other side of town from where I usually go out, but I've still ran into current customers at places around town.

Hey, now. Don't drag ME into this.

When I was 10, my younger brother was 5. We went out for pizza one night, while we were in the restaraunt we saw a local TV personality who did an afernoon kid's show that he watched religiously. He was looking around, saw her and his eyes bugged out. He hops off his chair, walks over to her and says in a voice the whole restaraunt could hear, 'MIZ ___!?!? HOW DID YOU GET OUT OF THAT TV SET?!?!?'

This is kind of the opposite. People used to see me in context, and often they were disappointed

In my last job, I bought all the production equipment, and did all the maintenance buying. That meant I spent a lot of time on the phone, spending lot's of money. I got to know some of the vendors quite well over the phone and they would occasionally come up looking forward to meeting me and going out for lunch, dinner, or a night at the local sports bar. None of them were expecting a scrawny 27 year old with big 80's metal hair, worn, faded and ripped jeans and a muscle shirt. The look on their face's was priceless

Running in to familiar people sucks when I cant remember them. I always feel bad when I say "hey man, I am terrible with names. I know you somewhere, but don't know where."

I hate being that guy.

I know a lot of people from road cycling, so every time I see them they have on spandex, helmets, and sunglasses and are hunched over a bike wagging their butt back and forth as they pedal. Makes it really hard to recognize them in the grocery store.

I thought they ate at Quiznos and that's why it went out of business. The bad guys refused to pay for their sandwiches.

I know what you mean. I used to do a ton of cycling until about 3 years ago. A lot of the guys had big oakley sunglasses and a bandanna at all times while riding (under their helmet of course). I saw one guy at the bike shop and did a double take. I recognized the nose, jaw, and teeth, but I don't think I ever saw his eyes or hair before!

I was going to make the exact same comment. There are a bunch of people I've never actually seen in street clothes.
