Well after a few drinks I ended up contacting someone on craigslist selling a 50+ collection of abstract oil on canvas paintings for 200$ so I thought it was a good deal and set an appointment. Needless to say sobriety wasn't enough of a deterrent and I now own 50 paintings ranging from rather small to a 8'x6' monster. My once nice garage is fois gras'd with art work. I need to down size.

What would be the best way to sell these painting? I put one on ebay for E36 M3s and giggles with a starting bid of 20$, which might be too much but it is signed. I'd hate to sell the next picasso but I cannot deal with this much stuff. I bought the set as "good canvas to scrape off" but it was art.

I was thinking of having my own art and wine festival but something tells me it would turn into debauchery.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated!

I'll try to get some photos of it later.

I'll give you $5,000 for the middle one.

Not really, but I do like the idea! I think there's money to be made here. Possibly .

Maybe you could arrange to set up a stall at a local market? Flog some that way.

And what's wrong with a little debauchery every now & then? :D

I'd also list one on Ebay for a totally absurd price ($20,000 etc), in the off-off-chance that some rich person might just buy it on impulse.

I think your best bet will be to set up a small store or gallery in town to sell them. I'm a very minor art collector, and would very much hesitate to buy anything on line without a lot of research. Besides, shipping art is a major PITA.

OTOH, there are so many details that you can only see in person on art.

So if you can rent an abandond store for a week or two, plaster facebook and other easy to reach media outlets in the area for a show- you may be able to get sell quite a few of them. And find out as much as you can about the artist, and post info, signs, etc. Play him up as important.

The dangers are twofold. One- renting the space and not selling anything. Two- selling them so well you decide that art sales are a good idea....

Oh, and knowing myself- see if you can set up a brief period where you can accept all major credit cards in person. It's easy to sell something when the buyer doesn't have to take it out of their current budget....
