Damn. It does seem wasteful though, while it certainly works as advertised the remains don't look like they'd even be good for pulpwood. Also, I bet it'll sling a rock one hell of a long ways.

I've seen one in action. It's impressive, sounds like a jet engine when it spools up. They were using it on such large trees they would have to stop every few seconds to let it spin back up to full speed. And yes, it can launch debris a good distance!

The SHA around here uses smaller versions mounted on tractors to clear brush along the highways. Very impressive to se in action.
