Came home through yet another monsoon, stopped at Verizon to fight with the shiny happy people. Unsuccessful, stopped for a subway sandwich and came home to this:

I see my home owner's deductible is either $1000 or $2000 if they decide it was wind damage (it wasn't, I'm sure it was the 1" or so of rain that fell in like 3 minutes flat). Now I'm throwing a dart at a list of roofing/gutter contractors. At least the Abarth wasn't there, SWMBO had her Element, and the gutter landed like 1" from the hood of the Subarust.

Actually landed on the light bar and lights which saved the front end as well!

Couldn't be any closer without damage!

Its not the end of the world. I had one that was starting to pull loose over the weekend and was able to straighten it out and re-attach it. Check out what this old house has to say: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/how-to/intro/0,,442134,00.html

The worst part about yours is the height. Be careful. Ladder safety article: http://www.thisoldhouse.com/toh/asktoh/question/0,,214683,00.html

Gutter guys around here are 4 bucks a foot give or take... You shouldn't even hit your deductible.

If you don't care about it being perfect yours could be reattached.

That looks like a ladder, a cordless screw drill and 30 minutes of your time. Just unbend it and put it back up.

if you have to get someone else to do the work .. is Angie's list something that's worth using … or is it mostly TV commercial hype ?

Check your soffit for rot, and your downspouts for blockage also.

An SCCA friend recommended a local roofing company she used, I'll see what they say for $$ today.

EDIT: wbjones: if you have a subscription to angieslist I'd love to borrow it (or you could look up roofing/gutters in Dayton OH)

I look at your house, and I think a couple of things:
1: I am really happy I don't live in a split level anymore
2: I've never seen windows that close to the roof before

You'll need to log in to post.
