I may have a chance to be in England next year during the Silverstone F1 and Goodwood Festival of Speed 2018. Any tips on what tickets I should look at? Grandstands, General admission, etc...?
Thanks - Scott

Don't pay for a grandstand seat at Goodwood. I hardly ever sat down in one place because it took me two days of walking to see everything. Do bring a key for any/all cars that you have have access to--the manufacturer pavilions at Goodwood typically have hospitality areas that are for 'owners only' so if you can show a key you'll get in.
I took my dad to the back to back BGP and Goodwood Festival in 2008. Amazing trip. A racing friend asked for tips for when he & his dad did the trip in '10, here's a cut and paste from that email. Of course, lots has probably changed since then.
Grand Prix
-Summer weather is variable and for us was wet and downright cold. It rained hard the morning of the race and was pretty chilly. We were very glad to have covered grandstand seats, not just bc of the views. We tried for some kind of paddock pass, but couldn't get, so we were pretty isolated from the cars. Not like Sebring/Daytona etc where you can walk wherever you want.
- We stayed in Oxford, like 45-1hr away, there are closer places but we had mom with us and this way she got to spend time at the college etc. Leave lots of time to get there. Roads around Silverstone are tiny, like 1/2 a lane in some places. Leads to HUGE traffic backlogs, and when it rained the open grass parking areas turned to mud. The parking areas were pretty far from the gates, so be ready to walk. Look RIGHT at roundabouts, there WILL be a lunatic in a hothatch coming straight at you. Don't speed, dad found out the hard way.
Goodwood
-Surprisingly, super down to earth and open, the exact opposite of the GP. You can walk right up to any car in the paddock, take pics etc. Drivers tend to hang with cars, I chatted with Derek Bell for like 15 min.
-We got seats, but could have done without them. Might have been different if it rained. We spent A LOT of time walking around. Take the time to go up to the top of the hill, where the course finishes. Hamilton did 30 seconds of donuts there, was amazing. RAlly stage is cool to watch too, and a little scary in a good way. AS you walk in, you'll also walk by the start line, fun to just stand and listen. It wasn't until the second day that we realized there are free shuttles that go up hill, we thought special tix were needed.
-We stayed in Brighton, an old beach town. Stayed there because Mom was with us, but it wasn't all that great. If we had it to do over again, we would try to stay in a pub closer to.
Traffic into and out of Goodwood each day is awful, so stay as close as possible to the estate. We rented a modest home in Chichester that was only three and a half miles away yet still spent ages in traffic. We found cell/data coverage on the grounds to be pretty spotty. Don't get separated from your group!
