Am I the only one who would like to see athletes use as much PED as they can?
If they are willing to destroy their bodies long-term, for short-term money and fame, I say let them. I want the best athletes money can buy.

No.......(Patiently awaiting bankruptcy filing)

yeah, but they are role models for kids and yada yada yada...
This is supposed to new a good thing for the Yankees, as I heard they owed him some back pay.
$100M a year is just berking ridiculous. It seriously angers me. You could own all the Miatae ever built for that!
I guess I'm a philanthropist at heart, but if someone were to give me that much money to swing a bat I would be insulted. I'd rebuild Haiti or feed starving children or build libraries, or FArhgbvsdghl kj gcf...............
Sorry, I rant from time to time.
I can't wait to see the reaction A-Rod gets in Chicago tonight. White Sox fans, don't let me down.
Lou Gehrig must be rolling over in his grave.

I thought I was the only one.
It's a business, and they are entertainers. I don't think the league should care what they do, as long as they do their jobs. If it's a legal issue, let the proper authorities take care of it.
actually he will get paid ... at least for a while ... he's starting at 3rd base tonight
he also is going to appeal ... which means he gets paid while the appeal is being adjudicated ... could take the rest of the season ... then he's eligible for pay again after the suspension is over
If he accepted the suspension right now, he'd be without a paycheck until the end of 2014. Yankees will still have under control for a few years after, and will still have to pay him 60 million after the suspension. The yanks were likely hoping for a lifetime ban, so they wouldn't have to pay him ever again, as they'll never get that value out of him in his current state of health. Find it interesting that the yanks catcher and a young catcher they trade away also got busted.

Calm down. He doesn't make a third of that number. No one in baseball does.

On a baseball suspension related note...
Antonio Bastardo of the Phillies was suspended today for PEDs. I don't know what he paying for at that clinic, but I'm pretty sure he was getting performance detracting drugs.

I thought all the Phils took performance detracting drugs?
In reply to Will:
I don't really follow baseball, I just thought I had heard such a high number. Still too much though. twitch

so $30,000,000 is an acceptable salary ?

I'm actually waiting for the Commish to throw down a "Detraction to the integrity of the game" ruling that AROID cannot appeal.......and see him banned. For crying out loud, they banned Pete Rose for life for making extra money on the side....

I don't think the Yankees agree that they are getting equitable return on investment ... that's why they've been trying so hard to keep him out, and working with the commissioner to get a longer more money saving suspension
and yeah they played him last night ... they're going to have to pay him while the appeal is being heard... might as well get some return out of that (especially when you consider the lack of production they've gotten from 3rd base this yr.

I think if he was going to do that he would have ... if for no other reason than to make A-Rod just go away ... guess he didn't feel like he could make it stick

I disagree. Ignoring the fact that my chance is long gone, I want a chance to be the best without chemically damaging my body. It would effectively make it a requirement to take the drugs to succeed in the industry. I'm not aware of any respectable industries where that is the norm to be successful.
Also, Babe Ruth did it on hot dogs and beer. Maybe they should try that.
