if the pros open up the rules to allow PED, then you know where that's headed don't you ... (actually it's already there)

at the first sign of "real" ability a HS coach/father is going to point the kid towards the nearest strip mall with a "doctor" that will shoot him/her up .... is that what you want ?

Exactly. They wouldn't be payed that much if they didn't make that much for the team.

Bunch of hypocrites.

I hope the grass growing league called MLB dies a miserable death.

FWIW, it is already happening.

I see it as akin to running an XP car in a stock class.

As a Red Sox fan, nothing pleases me more than A-Rod's career and reputation going up in a fiery ball of FAIL. They should have given him the perma-ban. He is a loser.

you are correct ... from what I hear, there are a couple/few HS athletes that are on the Biogenesis case

Probably holding it in reserve for if AROID attempts to drag out appeals to the current ruling as a way of extending his carreer......this ban will definitely end it. I would still like to see a lifetime ban from everything baseball.

Well, in A-Rod's case, I'd say no, he's not worth that, as he hasn't performed up to expectations.

But I don't think that's what you meant. I assume you mean that no athlete should make that much, and I disagree for the reason that others have already stated. What's winning a championship worth to a team owner?

If my assumption as to your meaning was incorrect, let me know.

at the time he signed the original "obscene" contract, it was so over the top that obscene is a reasonably descriptive term ... if a team is still making money AND winning championships .... then maybe it's ok ...

but when it causes the prices of tickets, parking, food & drink, etc .... to reach the point that most "normal" people can't attend the events .... and when it causes all the rest of the teams to try to compete with those same pay levels ... and they WON'T be solvent, or winning championships ...

then yeah I think it's too much to be paying an athlete ...

that's why I'm for hard caps on salaries

From a "political" sense, I disagree with this. However, in reality it won't affect the average players and the good players will get endorsement deals.

I don't count endorsement deals when I'm thinking about salaries ... nor do I count incentive pay ...now the straight out guaranteed monthly pay check is where I roll my eyes in disgust .. not expecting anyone to agree with me .. just how I feel
