...and realized that mowing the lawn isn't so bad afterall. Berkly you winter!
agreed. Lawn mowing rocks. The mower does all the work. This shovel doesn't do jack on it's own, and snow blowers never seem to do a complete job.
I don't think we even own a snow shovel! We just wait 2-3 days for the sun to come back out and the temps to get back up into the 40's (or higher)...
I'd rather shovel a 12" snowfall every other week than mow the lawn. I hate hate hate mowing the lawn.

+1 And when you are done shoveling you have giant snow mounds on each side of the driveway, which is inherently satisfying. When you are done mowing you have, what, short grass? Woohoo.
Trust him, he's a doctor.
Just spent 1.5hrs shoveling last night's 4+" and left over snow/ice/concrete from last week. myfitnesspal app says I get 700 calories for free now, which I thought was a free meal, and an old Navy friend suggested 2 good beers instead.

^This.
Takes me longer to get the snow off the driveway and sidewalks than it does to mow the grass. And I have a good snow blower!!
I'd sooner shovel my driveway than mow the lawn. Driveway takes longer, but it's more satisfying for some reason.

Plus, it's hard as hell to get the snow blower on the roof.
Wife has to be to work at 6AM tomorrow and they are saying 12" plus by then. Guess I'll be up at 4:30 firing up the snow blower so she can get out of the driveway. Good thing I hate my neighbor, and I don't have to feel bad about making all that noise at 5AM on a Sunday morn.

Hard, but not impossible

This, unless you live in a shack built by drunks in the depression, I don't see how this is necessary. Actually I did grow up in a house built by drunk rednecks, part of it during the depression, and we never removed snow from the roof.
Just removing 4 feet or so along the edge to help prevent ice dams. Forecast calls for warming trend later this week, figured I jinx it
