I've been around for a while... I can shamelessly self promote, right? Think of it like a bunch of $20XX posts conveniently located in one place, separated by genre.
So my fiance and I started Eclectic Bindings Independent Booksellers (EclecticBindings.com) over the weekend. Obviously this was a long term project, but it just went live on Saturday, so I'll consider it to have started over the weekend... Just go with it.
Anyhow, we are far from having all of our inventory loaded, but the site is live. You guys are kind of like the beta test, so tell me what you think, what you want to see more of and what you feel there should be less of. Any input is helpful.
One thing that makes us unique is our "Random Book Club" where you give us a few of your interests, or books you have enjoyed in the past, and we'll send you one random book per month for a year.
The "transportation" section is my own personal collection from the last 20 years. It'll be sad to see some of them go, but I've already read them, it's time to move them on to someone new.
Check back often for new items...
Once we hit 100 Facebook likes, Facebook gives us 50 dollars in free advertising so we can reach more people... We're heavily entrenched in social media, so like, follow, etc on each of those if you are so inclined. We try to make our pages an entertaining place to talk about books, rather than a sales-only annoyance for your wall or feed. Check it out. (Again, input would be nice).

I like books. I took care of the FB thing, I'll check the site out when I have more time.
I also like books! You'll find a new like on FB, i'm not on the other sites.
Thanks guys! I'll make sure to keep plenty of car and motorsport stuff on the site for my friends here.
Liked on Facetwit.. Now you gotta like the guys I work for :)
I love the idea of the $4.00 random book club..
Liked...but I don't know how to read
do you have a well stocked magazine rack?
Looks like you're up to 40 "likes".
Good luck!

I like that you have the Dr. Who books. You could probably pick up lots of Star Wars novels to sell, too.
Great Name!!!
I'll have to check it out this afternoon.

Any interest in buying books? I've got a stack I've read that I'd otherwise probably give to the library book sale. Most are pretty recent, several are automotive in nature. I'd even swap for store credit.
one of the links int he transportation section contains an odd typo...not sure if Im missing something?
British American Tobacco: From Dream to Reality
Not sure "Tobacco" is meant to be in the link?
Besides that, its a pretty great site with a lot of good stuff to check out!

I noticed that too.
Are some of the other car books so rare that you can charge hundreds of dollars? I get the signed and inscribed ones, but the other ones, really? Is there information in there that can't be found on the internet that makes them more valuable? (I'm, admittedly, not a book person.) (Were they printed by Gutenberg? )
I do like the website. It's clean, I like that.

liked on the book of faces.
thinking about buying the book of the worst cars
Books? Books are old. Nobody reads books anymore, except old people.
Very cool. Website was easy to use and I like the additional pics of the books, like the Donahue signed book.
Good luck

Well, technically BAR spawned from British American Tobacco, so yeah... No, it was my typo. Thanks for noticing. Fixing now.

I've got a few that haven't been loaded yet, but I'm continually on the look for more.

Sure. Shoot me a list of what you have, and I'll see if it's anything I don't already have...
The short answer is yes. We're always looking for more inventory.

You are what is wrong with the world...
(I think you were joking, but sarcasm is hard to convey on the internets...)

I've got thousands of magazines that haven't hit the site yet. What are you looking for?

Rarity is a big factor. A book that has been out of print for several years, or had a short run can affect the price.
If you think about it logically, it'll probably never make sense. However, if books are an emotional thing for you, or you are a collector, or you simply love that particular topic, then perhaps it is worth it to you.
How much do you spend on internet? I'm sure every one of us here has spent more to maintain an internet connection than I ever have on books. Which one is pricey now?
If none of that convinces you... "WHY WOULD ANYONE BUY A SPORTS CAR. They are wasteful and stupid and bad for the planet. Everyone should be driving Priuses, because that's my narrow minded opinion..."
Convinced now?
