Yesterday, as I was standing in line at the deli, I noticed that I was next to a table of coconuts. They were two for three bucks, so I bought a couple of them. I took them home, drilled a hole and drained the milk, tasted it (yuck) and then broke it open and tried a few bites.
Now, what the hell do I do with the rest of this stuff?
Get a crown and wander the countryside looking for the Holy Grail?
Make new bikinis for the pregnant ladies at the pool?

I believe the answer is two parts good rum, 2 parts pineapple juice, and a straw.

Mmm, boat drinks. These taste just like I imagine coconut sun tan oil would.
You need to make some of these
Coconut macaroons?
Coconut shrimp?
German chocolate cake? I've always been confused that coconut is an intrinsic part of any nominally German dish...

The edges are very sharp.

You could just bevel the edge a bit, could you not?
Young coconut or "old" coconut?
My sister brings me young coconut from the Asian grocery store when she comes to visit. Cost about a buck each, they're white, I lop off the top with a heavy knife and drink it with a straw. Then I take a spoon and scrape the meat off the inside and eat it. Refreshing as hell. Not a strong taste at all. And I used to hate coconut flavored anything growing up.

My last coconut purchase was from the fine establishment pictured below.
Interestingly enough, the coconut market seems to be very stable. Your cost in a Connecticut deli is much the same as what I paid. The proprietor in my transaction offered full-service coconut delivery options, however.
Machete at the ready, if you know what I mean.
Do you have access to swallows?
See if you can hit a road sign as you drive by at 90mph?
Signed,
Not a fan of coconut.

I feel your pain. We spent a solid 45 minutes getting them down from a tree in Costa and then let them to chill in the fridge. When we gave them a try.....thoroughly disappointed .

That's pretty damn cool, right there.
I have never liked coconut anything in my life but the couple times I had it out of the shell "fresh" I liked it.
Every coconut I've gotten from the store had gone rancid. May be why I've only bought 1.... Lol
