More or less, he downplayed the gravity of the situation.

Anyone want to bet it doesn't go to page 5?

Apparently he had a tantrum. Took his words and left.
Someone should reach out to him. He's young, thin skinned and nervous. He's in doo-doo which we were helpful with, but everyone kinda piled on at page 2.
Obviously he's never been to a Honda or VW forum.

Everyone already told him what to do and he knows what needs to be done. I think he might have been looking for a way out that didn't involve him paying off the lien or refunding the buyer.

Sure, and then he ended up doing what was suggested as far as we know. Still ended up as a 3-4 page witch hunt. Not without reason i suppose, but even as someone who thought the original question was rather stupid, i found it pretty excessive.
Can't blame the kid for leaving, at least. At least he DID thank us for the input.
Overall, he was polite and articulate. That puts him several steps ahead of some other first timers who join up to ask us a question.

I agree.
The problem at hand was well summed up below by Datsun. All the other posts before that were an attempt to pull out enough of the story to make sense of the problem.

The Lot went out of business or changed names so he stopped paying for the car. They eventually charged it off as a bad loan instead of repossessing the car. They buyer thinks since it was charged off it is now his car to sell and wants the dealer to release the loan for a car he is stilled owed money on. Just because the car did not get repossessed and you have not heard from the place in 5 years does not magically release you from paying the loan back, plus interest, fees, etc. Another argument I have heard is "I paid them more than the car was worth already so they should let me have it" You sold a car that you were not legally able to sell. You owe the buyer either $2500 OR a clear title. It's that simple, the rest does not matter.
To the original poster if you are still watching. I hope we helped and I hope we can help again in the future. Come back any time and try us again even if you want to try in the same or different screen name.
