Sometimes it is nice just to relax with a pet. A pet rat in this case.

A good friend of mine rescues & rehomes rats. They're so sweet, but I think their short lifespan would be sad to contend with?
My first pet that was "mine" was a rat. She was one of the sweetest creatures I have ever encountered, but yes, the short lifespan and typical method of going are kind of rough. Nothing but fond memories of her, though.
Man it would take so long to tell the whole story but long ago when I used to crash frequently at a friends house in San Francisco they had a pet rat that I would take everywhere with me. Just chilled in one of my pockets while I was shopping or whatever. Yes I talked to her, asking her opinion, "Those eggs look good?" "Yes they do Lobster" She was awesome. One of my best memories.
I've had rats twice. Once was a beautiful souls of a boy, and the other two were some of the most hateful creatures I ever encountered. I don't think that's a high enough average to try again, but I don't hate em.

Yes, the short lifespan is a something difficult to deal with.
A compleat opposite, the Noddaz family also has pet birds that are nearing 30 years old.
