No worries, not swimming wear related!

Just got done doing some work on our 2000 Windstar and now the speedometer is only reading about 1/2 of what it should. I did manage to break an ABS sensor off of the right side front steering knuckle so the TC and ABS lights are on (as expected) but I wouldn't think that would have anything to do with the speedo.

I also swapped out the radiator hoses and got some coolant on the tranny from the upper hose - anybody know where the VSS is located on a Windstar? If it got coolant on it any chance it will dry out and go back to normal?

Any other ideas or possibilities for this symptom?

TIA, Ed

IF it has one, some Taurii and Windstars didn't have a VSS, it is on the passenger side on top of that end of the trans. You can see it through the wheelwell with the wheel and tire removed. The mounting bracket blocks some of seeing it, but it is visible, if present.

Google seems to say it is the ABS sensor, apparently the dash uses an average of the two (four?) sensors and the VSS is only used by the ECM... that makes sense....
