We already have a place to stay.  It's in / near winter garden.

We will be there from the evening of August 30th and leaving Monday Sept 2nd.

Any cool spots we should be checking out in the evenings on Saturday or Sunday?  Any great restaurants to hit?

We have all of Monday til probably 3pm to do something as well.  Any go kart tracks / parks / zoo / other must see activities with the kiddos (4 kids ages 6 through 12).  Saturday and Sunday we will be at Disney parks.

I’m a fan of the space center. Not sure if you want to drive out to the coast, though.

I go to Disney more than is probably healthy.  With 4 kids, you are gonna want to stay in the hotel after the park. It will still be stupidly hot and you will want to recover im your room

Also, Orlando and surrounding are the armpit of traffic snarls.  May not have time to do anything after

I should mention that the kids will be in the hotel after the park.  The 4 parents can leave and do something for a bit (we have a Nana going with us).

I was just in Orlando for the teenager's vball tournament.  We had an afternoon to kill so ended up going to Gatorland.  It's every bit of the tourist trap you're expecting, BUT the teenagers who hate everything actually really enjoyed it.  We spent 3.5 hours there sweating our butts off checking out things.  The only disappointing things was that both the kids wanted to do the Capybara encounter, but they do not offer this on Wednesdays (not mentioned on their site).

There is an Andretti indoor karting location not too far from Disney that also has a big arcade section. There are a bunch of good restaurants and stuff to do at Disney springs and Universal City Walk has some cool stuff too. I have never been to Gatorland but I have only heard good things about it, the Orlando Science Center is also a fun place to check out.

No specific recommendations but I think downtown Winter Garden is quite nice.  My mom lives in Cleremont and I hooked up with a local group ride that runs out that way. We rode through downtown and I liked it enough to come back with the family.  We hit a little bookstore, there's a train museum, many places to eat, etc.  Very walkable.

The zoo in Sanford is nice.
