I saw Steve Miller a couple months ago at an outdoor venue in town. He still rocks but what's amazing to me is how he has changed his style a little bit to keep up with how his voice has changed as he's aged. I was floored to find out he's 79.
I've been a big Bob Seger fan for years. Love his Fire Lake.
But I also loved these lyrics from Against the Wind:
"Deadlines and commitments
What to leave in, what to leave out"
That was the story of my working life. Except I wasn't able to leave anything out. I'm glad I'm now retired.
Firmly middle aged, this lyric has a different, yet very relevant meaning to me.
"Strange how the night moves.
With autumn closin' in..."
