Messed up my ankle this past January, getting it fixed this afternoon.  Should be a fairly straight forward thing but can't say I'm super enthused to do this...

It will all be good.  The reality, for me, is never as bad as what I can imagine.

In reply to Streetwiseguy :

yeah, that's always the way it is.  I tortured myself mentally before my back surgery and it was all for naught.  My patients do the same thing before they see me, the mind is a powerful thing.

It's going to be hard to sit around the next week, I have all sorts of garage car projects I'd like to get done but I'm sure the Doc doesn't want me on my feet for hours at a time working on cars...

Good luck. Listen to your doctor, ask questions and the worst is not eating all damn day before surgery.

I haven't been on the forum yet today, so missed your post this morning. I hope everything went well, and you have a fast and full recovery.

Surgery is the easy part.  It's the rehab that makes it fun.

Good luck!

home now, they did have to fix the ligament, which bums me out a bit.  Recovery will be 3 months now.  Back in a boot and can't drive my car, hopefully in a week I can switch to a splint for just driving...

Thanks for all the well wishes guys, really appreciate it

Thanks!  I'm off work all week but definitely won't be able to work in the garage the way its feeling.  Which sucks because I have a ton I'd like to get done.

If you're free for lunch sometime this week and want to meet up lmk.

First time out of the house today.  Gorgeous day, I had to get out and get a hair cut.  Drove my wife's Cayenne since its the only automatic transmission car in the garage.  Decided to give it a quick hose down with the pressure washer when I got home since it was filthy from the last storm.

Did that and set the air pressure since the tpms was yelling about.  Came inside, immediately took my ibuprofen/tylenol cocktail and iced my ankle.  Bummed out that such a small act landed me back onto the couch.

What exactly did you get whacked?  That is, what exactly did they do?  And you mean your post-op instructions didn't have a line that said "No washing the Porsche" so you figgered it would be OK?

Is that what the kids call it these days?  Washing the Porsche?

I've heard it called Waxing the Bishop but not Washing the Porsche.

Here's to a speedy recovery, Doc.

Missed this till now but am glad to hear that it went well enough. I have had my share of surgeries and they are never fun, before or after.

Remember that I am not far away if you need a hand with anything even if I am not in much better condition... or if you just want to grab lunch or whatever.

Good luck with recovery!

Had the atfl fixed in my left ankle and a bone chip removed.  No specific post op instructions given.  Have a boot, which I've been wearing, figured I'd be ok to stand in the boot for ~10 minutes to power wash the car.  Evidently not...

Went out to a nice dinner last night and I think my stomach got torpeoed by a combination of yummy adult beverages and too much dairy in the food.

Unfortunately that resulted in a rather uncomfortable night in gastric distress and not much sleep.

Was able to rally this morning tho and go to the range with my friend and sight in my rifle.  It was a gorgeous day and even tho we arrived fairly early we still had to wait almost an hour for a lane to open.  I plan to go back this week and hopefully everyone will be working and I can sight in at 100 yards.  Today was 50 yards.

TB, I'll call you!
